What is the last video game you played?

I still haven't played any of the Uncharted games. It's too bad the PS4 doesn't have backwards compatibility.

Yea, that annoys me too. I wish I could buy one system that would allow me to play all the (non-Nintendo) games that I want to play from the last 15 years :P

The companies completely ditched the prospect of backwards compatibility when they discovered people would pay for the same game multiple times. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if they release the trilogy on PS4 before A Thief's End is released. Even if that doesn't happen, they have their PS Now service which will let you stream PS3 games onto your PS4. A useful service, but horribly overpriced. Prices wildly ranging from $2.99 for a couple hours to $30 for a week.

Sony was not known to be very flexible about sharing any media, but I think it learned it's lesson

I remember buying an early MP3 player from them and they'd wrap your own MP3's in DRM

Yeah. Now if only Microsoft could learn that same lesson (not the mp3 part, of course).

The sad part is that it's not this insurmountable task. It's quite easy: take a great game, snip the filler and restructure the same story and you'd pretty much have a great movie. For whatever reason studios buy the rights to the name, maybe use the setting or genre and ditch everything else to make some shit on their own. I don't get it.

Huh. I wonder if they just buy the rights and sit on them. Whenever I see reports like that pop up, I never actually believe they'll make it to the big screen.

I saw an article pop up somewhere on Facebook that Maisie Williams from Game of Thrones (Arya Stark) would be interested in playing the main character. I can definitely see that.

Would be neat to get Santoallalalaalala to score it too!

It will take talented people really working with the material to make something good out of it. That hasn't happened yet. Maybe the Last of Us movie will change that. Sam Raimi's behind it and the game's writer, Neil Druckmann, is writing the script. It's got promise.

Even with Druckmann writing the script, I have my doubts. They'll never be able to recreate what Naughty Dog achieved with that game, and they shouldn't have to. It's the highest regarded game of the past decade. If there's an potential audience out there for this, they should just play it. That experience can't be matched in the cinema.

I'll play Tales of Xillia 2.

Planning to buy Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD

It looks like Valve isn't the only game company that can't count to 3.

I've been trying to play GTA Online the past couple days. Trying being the operative word.

Either it's my connection, but I can't seem to get a stable session for more than 20 minutes. And the game crashes occasionally to the point I have to quit GTA completely.

I also get annoyed as this mode of play is completely new and as I'm getting to grips with the system and interface, it's not fun when you're constantly killed while trying to do something.

And is it me but are most people only interested in just killing each other in the main world, instead of participating in races, jobs etc. ?

So far, it's no fun at all. Guess I'll just stick with single-player for the time being. That's where the GTA has always shined IMO.

I beat Far Cry 4 today and am contemplating buying the season pass. Does anyone know if Ubisoft's DLCs for this franchise are meaty like a Bethesda RPG? I never played 3, now regrettably, and I recall that getting a few add-ons. In other words, do you think there will be enough content to justify the purchase?

I thought the game was great and would love to play more. I found my ending to be pretty satisfying, and having read up on the other outcomes, it was definitely the best one. You can beat the game in 10 minutes though if you just sit and wait at the very beginning, which I think is the best easter egg ever lol.

I'm on to LittleBigPlanet 3 now, as I'm having trouble convincing myself to go back to AC Unity.

I've only gone through the prologue. Handsome game for sure on the PC. Those Himalaya locations do look amazing.

And I just looked at IMDB and saw that the main baddie's voiced by Troy Baker (Joel from The Last of Us) which surprised me.

Far Cry 4 on PC. First impressions: brilliant looking open world exploration with some enhenced gameplay and features.

The wildlife is either on steroids or programmed to be annoying. If it wasn't so entertaining to behold. :D

On the downside, getting some real unplayable stuttering on my config, which is couple of years old (gfx card about a year old).

Looking to increase the performances through tweaks, lowering detail and whatnot... Ah the wonderful world of PC gaming.

This is one of the reasons why I have leaned more toward console gaming in recent years. At least with the consoles you're guaranteed to be able to play every game on the system.

Far Cry 3 suffered from the exact same stuttering issues, it's a joke that they've still not addressed it for the latest game. That's why I'll eventually get it for the PS4.

I started playing Borderland 2 the other day. I like the open world and game play mechanics but I'm not too keen on the writing. The midget boss' dialogue consists entirely of reddit memes, making that particular mission painfully unfunny.

Mate do yourself a favor and get it on console. I played a bit yesterday and even after I did some tweaking that should get rid of the problem, major stuttering remains. And most of the detail level is at the third highest quality.

I don't get it, it's not slow framerate you normally get in graphics-intensive games, it just stops for 1-5 seconds, than the game continues for a couple of frames, then another hiccup, and so on.

Absolutely unplayable. Hope this will be fixed because the game is beautiful on PC.

And no freaking skippable logo screens??? :pat:

I've looked in the installation folder, no such thing as a folder or references to movie files that I can see.

It used to be possible by adding -skipintro in the shortcut, but not anymore after Ubisoft changed something.

And I tried something else, another tweak by altering the way level of detail is handled, textures don't look as sharp anymore but at least the stuttering seems to be mostly gone, and I can put everything on ultra quality again. :D

This article can help people if they decide to play FC4 on PC. But it doesn't help everybody it seems.

Editing game files manually?

Another series of posts that prove PC gaming hasn't evolved since 2005. It's exactly the same set of problems transferred to more advanced games. And an endless cycle of not having a powerful enough PC to run the latest games properly

And Wojo will come running to defend his gaming rig that catches fire whenever he tries to play a game that's less than 2 years old, and after losing another 50 hours of progress in Skyrim because of a hard drive crash last night

If you consider Ubisoft's lazy, buggy ports of console games to the PC to be a complete summary of the last nine years of PC gaming, then yes, PC gaming is irreparable, and those of us who continue to PC game are just masturbating with electricity.

King Mark, you've demonstrated time and time again you lack the time, determination, skill, desire, and/or intelligence needed to make a modern PC game run well. I simply don't have the persuasive nature left to convert you from console gaming to PC gaming, and quite frankly, I don't want you gaming on a PC. I want to know that when I log into Steam or GOG, I won't have to worry about your shitty skills and system affecting my system over the network. I have enough to worry about with faulty memory chips, viruses, overheating, bad hard drives, cracked porn passwords, fan bearings, outdated drivers, IRQ interrupts, Steam sales overloading the servers, and blue screens of death preventing me from playing as it is.

I haven't played a game in over a month. I've been too busy dealing with a new job, move, and trying to live out of boxes in the evening. But I have bought a few.

I'm not interested in Far Cry 4. It looks like a reskinned Far Cry 3, which lost my attention shortly after the prologue.

My Skyrim save game is safe and sound, and when I last left my Dunmer in October, he, Lydia, and Arissa were safe in Blue Bear Lodge.

Hmm, why can't they make a PS4 bundle with a game I actually want. Is Dragon Age Inquisition too "niche" of a game now?

You should have gotten the GTA V and Last Of Us bundle. That one converted the last couple of friends that were still on PS3.

My goodness, isn't this the most stunning racer you've ever seen? Apparently the new dynamic weather update has turned Driveclub on PS4 into something truly spectacular.

Look at those visuals !!!! Be sure to choose 1080p or all you'll see is bluriness. ;)

I will want to try this game out in the future, after they sort out the rest of the issues that currently plague it.

I wanted that game to be good, but if you still haven't figured out all the server problems 2 and half months after launch in addition to an 11 month delay, I don't know what to say. I would have bought it if it went on sale this holiday season but it seems they want to milk in every dollar they can to recoup their loss.

I predict Evolution is going to get shut down by Sony after this disaster.

I'll get it eventually, but remember that a free version was supposed to be available at launch. I can't imagine a lot of people playing this right now, so when Sony finally drops the free version I'm sure the player count will get a nice boost.

EDIT: Ah, it's a nicely priced $35 on Amazon. I might get it now.

Just tried to play Telltale's The Walking Dead on PSP. I gave up after a few minutes. I have no idea why anybody would want to play a game as cinematic as that on the tiny PSP screen. The clunky controls don't help its case.

What's your PSN?

I do not have one yet, as I played The Walking Dead on my brother's PS Vita.

The Walking Dead just rubbed me wrong. The awkward controls combined with the restrictive camera angels really spoiled the experience for me.

  • 2 weeks later...

I hate to double post but this thread has been dead for 2 weeks.

I just got my PS4. The GTA V remaster is decent but doesn't offer any astronomical graphical improvement and the first person mode is slightly wonky. I started Dragon Age Inquisition too. Upon first impressions, it seems like a good game for the most part. It improves upon the the second game's small scope but keeps many of its other problems like the restrictive party talking system and the simplified combat. The game definitely has high points. Visually it's is beautiful and the vast openness of the world is impressive.

The recent "hack" is annoying as I can neither set up an account nor download the digital copy of The Last of Us that came with the Black Friday bundle. It's frustrating that the system can be thoroughly uprooted by 15-year-olds (this is just an assumption I made after reading the "hackers" Twitter page).

Any suggestions on which games to get. I think that I have the quintessential games right now (GTA V, Dragon Age, Shadow of Mordor, The Last of Us). Should I wait a few months to purchase another game?

I finally treated myself to a PS4 yesterday. Bestbuy.com had a downloadable game bundle for just $350, with Far Cry 4 as one of the free games. So I was able to buy some Best Buy e-gift cards with my Visa gift cards and ended up getting the PS4 with game download for $250 out of pocket. I couldn't pass up the deal!

You've got to realize that savvy shoppers who take advantage of coupons, sales, rebates, and specials are proud of their accomplishments and like to brag about them. It's perfectly fine.

Braggers tend to be the idiots who pay top whack prices like morons and can't wait to tell guests how pricey their shite Bose soundbar was. Bargain hunters and savvy eagle eyes, like myself, don't brag. They share - often with links to said bargains provided.
