What is the last video game you played?

No. Destiny fully caters to both audiences. It is Borderlands, but with richer gameplay and loot. Destiny is also designed around hooking the player into becoming obsessed with its core FREE [ultra refined] gameplay loop, in the hope that players will be enticed into spending money on it - like GACHA.

I reckon I must have put 1.5K hours into Destiny, entirely solo. Although I no longer play it anymore (burnt out).

Well the thing is I prefer RPG's of the Genshin Impact type  and it pretty much distills all the good JRPG elements into one. The bar is pretty high for the next Tales game now

For shooters it's more occasional and I got my latest fix from Borderlands 3 and Outer Worlds

The shooters  I play is mainly Fallout , Far Cry and Borderlands series

Destiny is a solid game, but I only enjoy it with friends. Solo, the grind gets repetitive and boring. At least for me. I’d much rather waste away the hours in COD or a Bethesda RPG.

When you get a tight fireteam together and take on one of the raids, Destiny is a gaming experience like no other. But the vast, VAST majority of my time on the game/s is spent entirely solo. That's where I build my character and gain an intimate knowledge of the systems, activities and worlds.

But I've played it too much (effectively the entire life cycle of the PS4) and I can't get into it any more. The big new expansion is out next week, but I can't muster the interest enough to buy it. I reckon I've spent maybe £120 on the Destiny franchise, and had around 6-7 years of gameplay out of it. Not a bad yield.

Regardless of my becoming tired of the franchise, I'll always consider Destiny one of the greatest, most impactful gaming experiences I've ever had. It has become an enormously influential part of gaming culture.

Oh Battlefield far and away remains my favourite and go to PvP online shooter, I still play it all the time.

I used to play Battlefield 1943 on the 360 and PS3.  As someone that played 1942 at LAN cafes, 1943 was a faithful recreation.  Wish they had added the European theater though.

I miss simple multiplayers like that.  I haven't played a Battlefield game since Bad Company 2.

I love it as well. But I typically tap out between 40-60 hours of gameplay for whatever reason.

I wish their BR was better conceived.

I don't play the Battlefield BR (Firestorm) at all. From what I heard (and I did play a tiny amount of upon release), the mode itself is really quite good, but completely bereft of support. Once they realised they'd fucked up by not making it F2P, DICE completely abandoned it. But bar a couple of easily fixable issues, it was perfectly enjoyable for a release version.

I mainly play Domination, TDM and Breakthrough.

That one is held up as being some sort of deified instalment, and it was great at the time, but I've much more enjoyed all of the later ones, from the fabulous BF3 all the way up to [embattled but eventually superb] BFV, which I still play. It's utterly spectacular.

Little Hope was even worse than Man Of Medan plot wise. The first game at least had the B movie factor going for it and was genuinely hilarious to play. This one is just a dud with a lame twist.

The teaser for the next game genuinely looks fun though.

Compared to their Until Dawn, I think Dark Pictures has been more disappointing. But I still feel great fun exploring and investigating all these different scenarios and crazy plots without the limitations of combat. Combat games just feel like a waste of time most of the time, doing the same thing over and over, filler with no thought put into it. I can get into games like Overwatch because they're a lot more strategic and competitive.

An adventure game I really liked actually was The Council (2018). Because it was an RPG but without any fighting aspect to it, imagine that. All your class customization was simply for advancing the story the way you want your character to.

And then there was Pathologic 2. This video changed my life and I haven't even played the game yet.

Ideally they'll make more of these games for platforms like Occ Quest 2. VR without the heavy hassle. The games make me feel like I was reborn in another universe in a different story.

I dug my PS4 out of the bottom of a filing cabinet where it's been for about 3 years, because I wanna play Super Sackboy 3D World out this week.  But now I can't find the power cord.....

I don’t think I’ve ever replayed a game so often in such a short space of time.

Characters and story made a huge impression on me. Really excited to see what they do with the TV show.

Let us know how you get on. Overall I enjoyed it but there was just something lacking I couldn’t really put my finger on. I just wasn’t able to really buy into it.

I found it a little strange that they "hunt" machines, I mean, I guess they would be usefull for parts or something, but still...

Let the plot develop. By gaming standards, the story is very good. I loved that game a lot.

Horizon has a pretty cool sci-fi story at its core that you will uncover as you progress.

If you haven’t noticed, a lot of the human’s tools and armor are comprised of the machine parts.

Spoiler

Could have down without the whole “chosen one” element. It’s been done to death in the last 20 odd years. It’s pretty cliched overall. Like, it’s grand but I can’t see myself ever replaying it.

She was inoffensively quite bland and mildly endearing with it. Great physical performance though. I found her compelling and fun to control, comparable to Nathan Drake sort of thing, gameplay wise.

I honestly don’t even remember that aspect of the story. I just really dig the post-post apocalyptic nature of it, and the base plot line. Aloy, as a character, didn’t leave much of an impression.

The three games I played before it were The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption 2, and The Last of Us Part 2 which all have amazing characters and plots so HZD probably suffered coming next to that lineup.

Sadly I haven't played any of these games other than the demo of Final Fantasy Vii Remake, but will definitely be playing Hades, Last of Us 2, Tsushima, and Ori 2 at some point

Rediscovering the good old Ropeway Simulator 2014 these days, having finally bought a new gaming PC after almost 9 years. Great fun to play and being a huge fan of ropeways, I LOVE that game!  With all graphic settings maxed out, I think it actually doesn't look all that bad even in 2020.

Also, playing through the CoD: Ghosts campaign for the first time and installing Battlefield 4 after that.

The new Spidey game, starring Miles Morales, is tons of fun! If you liked the previous 2018 Spider-Man game, you'll like MM.

Some small touches were improved upon the last game, like swinging around the city with webs doing acrobatics and fighting the minions. The story is okay, I guess, but the gameplay is what makes the game great.

It is set in December in New York, which reminded me of Home Alone 2!

The score is pretty good. It's a mix of traditional orchestral heroics with hip hop beats. Works extremely well in the game.

Anyone else disappointed in video game related Black Friday deals so far?

(Yes I know Black Friday isn't here yet, but most stores started their sales today or earlier).

I was hoping to find any of these PS4 games that I don't own yet at the $20 price point, but they are all going for more still

  • Last of Us II
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake
  • Ghost of Tsushima

On the Switch side I was looking for these games I don't own yet at the $40 price point (best I can expect from 1st party Nintendo), but they are going for more still

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 2
  • Bayonetta 2
  • Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore
  • Pikmin 3 Deluxe

Oh well.  I did find Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 7 for $15 each for PS4 at least

All of these games are still relatively new. The Last Of Us Part II for $30 is a great price. Ghost Of Tsushima for $40 as well. But you generally take your time with games. So I’m sure there will be more sales in the next few months for those titles.
