"The Accidental Tourist".

I simply could not imagine a better way to mark the start of J.W.'s 80th year on Planet Earth. A masterful score, from a man at the very top of his game. (Y)

I hear he plays a mean game of strip poker.

I am hoping he lives to 100 years, and that he enjoys them.

Imagine! 20 years more of JW music...what would be still to come? Maybe his greatest scores ever!

Over 2700 members and we only have 62 posts in his birthday thread, with around 24 of the posts not wishing him happy birthday.

Texas hold'em, actually. He's quite keen to regain the tri-county title from Willie Nelson.

Happy Birthday, Maestro John Williams! You wrote the soundtrack to our lives!

That's "are writing" the soundtrack to our lives.

He already seems to be semi-retired when it comes to filmscores.

And nothing in his work from the last 13 years tells me his best work is still in front of him.

What, you don't think that "Saving Private Ryan", "A.I.", "Minority Report", "POA", and "WOTW" contain some of his best ever writing?! :o

Happy birthday, Johnny!

According to Google, it's Jules Verne's birthday too.

Jules Verne happened to be the favorite author of Clara Clayton in Back to the Future Part III, who was played by none other than...

...Mary Steenburgen! Wow! Six degrees of John Williams!

 Talk about hardcore!

Best wishes on The Maestro's 79th.

His music has been a great friend over the years, and I trust for many more.

some post-'93 are better than some in that list...

Yeah, but I'd thin that list out to the point where nothing post '93 would compare.

My original point being that JW peaked (for the second time in his career) that year.

I cannot believe I forgot his birthday.

I feel terrible. I'm usually on top of this, as I prepare for the annual John Williams Film Fest. My vacation this year really threw a lot of things off track.

Happy birthday, Mr. Williams! Hope to meet you in person this summer!

Of course, it was yesterday . . . the one day I couldn't manage to get online.

Happy Birthday to the greatest film composer in history. Many happy returns--since, after all, you've given us so many. . . .

Wow I didn't know...two of my heroes sharing the same birthday (Jules Verne being more of a hero from my youth)

I would say 2001 was another peak too.

And maybe even 1999.

ANd maybe 2005. :P

Exactly :)

Oh and my personal fav year: 1996
