I'm more concerned about whether they'll return to the series' roots and ditch the bad CGI, the over-reliance on soundstages, lack of overseas/exotic locations, poorly structured plotting, non-existent cast chemistry, cringe-worthy attempts at humour, non-Biblical non-religious artifacts, etc. Just going ALL practical with nary a digital shot in sight would go a LONG way towards restoring authenticity to the Indiana Jones cinematic experience. Heck, I even think slightly hokey fx could help turn a fairly bad script into schlocky fun one.
toothless 963
I hope to see something about the music https://arte-magazine.arte.tv/press-kit/1821 Lame Google translate below: Quote A never-before-seen documentary on the occasion of the archaeologist’s 40th birthday imagined by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Nourished by interviews with the main stakeholders, as well as tasty archives, with a clownish Harrison Ford between two takes, this documentary tells, forty years after the release of the first part, the formidable trajectory of a sexy archaeologist (and a bit macho ), which brought the adventure film back into fashion to the point of becoming a benchmark. He draws a complete portrait of the hero and his many borrowings: the arrogance of Charlton Heston, the cynicism of Bogart, the righteousness of Stewart Granger, the stunts of Jean-Paul Belmondo. Traits which, combined with an endearing blundering temperament, have made him a universal hero. May 1977. Steven Spielberg joins George Lucas in Hawaii, fleeing the pressure of releasing Star Wars. With the box office reassuring them, the two friends set out to find a topic for Spielberg. He dreams of a James Bond. Lucas proposes to produce it and submits to him Indiana Jones: the story of an adventurer of the 1930s, like the serials, thrilling soap operas and low budget neighborhood cinemas, obsolete but dear to the hearts of these great kids. moviegoers. Philip Kaufman, one of the co-screenwriters and future director of The Cloth of Heroes, epically enriches the script with the idea of a quest for the Ark of the Covenant. But the studios don't believe it. In addition, Spielberg drags a reputation of spendthrift filmmaker and little respect for deadlines. Lucas vouches and even reluctantly agrees to "loan" Star Wars star Harrison Ford. Under his friendly influence, Spielberg will revise his way of filming and will never exceed neither budget nor schedule. With this wise management, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, an entertainment gem released in 1981, would become one of the highest grossing films in cinema history. Both inventive and in tune with the tastes of the public, the Spielberg / Lucas tandem developed a frenzied action mechanic that would later be called an "amusement park cinema". With its recognizable allure - whip, hat and three-day beard - Indiana Jones brings cinema into the era of franchises and merchandising, generating video games, series, figurines or comics. Bellosh 3,389
Outside of the age of Harrison Ford, (which I'm not completely worried about) is anyone else's major concern for this movie is that Disney is behind it? Jay 37,287
Hard to say. As in the people in charge simply didn't do enough to ensure a cohesive vision, thus leading to the messy overall final result? Admittedly, TRoS largely came about from Bob Iger insisting it come out by the end of his intended tenure, but that's about as far as I heard. Given that this will be a singular film, and it isn't JJ at the helm, I don't know what much the Mouse could do outside of pushing even stricter deadlines. Exactly -- no matter your opinion of the Star Wars sequels, studio interference isn't to blame. Yeah, Rogue One and Solo clearly had production interference (and Trev was dropped from IX) but Johnson has repeatedly said he was given free reign with TLJ, and Abrams wouldn't have signed on for TFA or TROS without final cut. I don't buy the excuse that TROS is a mess because Disney hacked it up; that film is just a result of Abrams not having enough time to make a cohesive movie (his own fault for signing on if he didn't think the timeframe was sufficient). As for IJ5, I assume it'll be similar to the non-Spielberg JP sequels at Universal. As EP, Spielberg gets final cut then defers it to his directors (Trevorrow/Bayona). I can't imagine any scenario where Disney would dare interfere with Spielberg on Indiana Jones, especially with Kennedy running Lucasfilm.
