eh it doesn't matter, screw disney

How do these things work? Do local cinemas decide when to stop screenings, or can Disney force them to keep it in theatres?

No word on the physical set just yet, but the film will release digitally this month (August 29), including some bonus features featuring John (no dedicated bonus feature sadly...)

But if those scattered appearances amount to more minutes of John than a dedicated feature would...

When is this movie coming to Disney+? Has it been announced?

They'll be trying to recoup as much of the budget as possible, so I doubt it'll be landing on Disney+ anytime soon. It only just hit VOD and sales are apparently quite strong.

It'll probably hit physical media closer to Christmas and drop on Disney+ next year.

Yeah surprising that they're dropping it on Disney+ almost a week before the Blu-ray releases. Really strange choice.

Has anything Disney has done recently made any sense whatsoever?

Most of their movies go to Disney+ the same week of the disc release - it’s been this way since the early days of COVID.  Ant-Man 3 and Guardians 3 are two other recent examples.

Retaining a monthly membership is more profitable to them than a one-time $15 purchase.  Even if you pay the full MSRP, their profit is less the cost of manufacturing, shipping, etc.

I’d bet that the people who still buy physical copies are the minority of viewers (and probably the minority of purchasers - hence the earlier digital date) at this point.
