indy4 152
For no reason other than to satisfy my own curiosity, I've been wanting to learn more about film music's history: trends, major events, different philosophies on how a score should function, criticism, etc. I've done a bit of research and here's what I've found so far:An article in the New Yorker that discusses some of the trends of film scores. The liner notes to Star Wars, which I believe discuss how Williams' score ushered in a film music Renaissance.I've been eying two books: A History of Film Music and Film Music: A History. Both look interesting, I'll probably end up getting the former because it's cheaper.Anybody else have any other sources that discuss this topic? Unlucky Bastard 7,765
I highly recommend the first one, but it's a doorstop, so it'll take a while to read, but I've never seen the second one.
