Yep. Mark remembers the time when internet was all black & white. ;)

Karol

Yes his memories reach all the way to the Elder Days, before the world was remade. He still rememebers the coming of the first men onto the shores of JWFan and clashes that finally in their furnace forged the MB we know today. Ah those were the days.

I clicked on the poster "mark" and yep that's me. It has my old Sprintmail address.

Cool! I must say that I don't remember you very much from those days, Mark, but then again I didn't post very often myself. Talk about doing this for too long! I was a 20-year-old army brat back then, connecting to the FSM board through slow, noisy modems at the camp (but only for a brief period of time, as duties beckoned....almost made it an illegal activity).

P.S. Incidentally, 1998 was also the year I first came into contact with Ricard L. Befan through these "illegal" army activities, since we both ran our respective Yahoo Groups (I had one on Spielberg and one on film music in general, he had one on 'Heroic Film Music' and later the Williams group, which eventually formed the basis for the first incarnation of this site). Must have been around March that year or something. We talked about a lot of projects (he had his plans for this site, among other things), but it's interesting to see how my projects dwindled away one by one (my film music group was deleted, the Spielberg group is still around but rather low in activity, my film music site www.celluloidtunes.net is basically a museum nowadays) while his blossomed up to the point where it now runs itself even without much involvement from him.

Good times! :)

Archive.org, a useful tool :)

Yeah, I love archive.org.

Speaking of which, I've been in an internet-nostalgic mood lately, and I wanted to see if I could find the old website that Ayaz Asif (or something?) created on John Williams in the mid 90's. I think this was one of, if not THE, first Williams page ever, even before the Jeff Eldridge one. It had black background with brownish coulour palette, if memory serves. Does anyone remember the web adress of this or what it was called so that I can use archive.org to check it out?

I remember freaking out when I discovered all this glorious information on my favourite composer, when I visited a class mate's house in 1995 or early 1996. This was in the early days of household internet, and I had to go to friends' places to check it out, as my own dad was kinda slow in getting a connection.

Anyways, I remember going into that site ever so often, perhaps even printing out some of the pages so that I can read them on my bedside.

Ah, more good times. :)

Wait - Norway has an army?

Strange, innit? You're implying we don't need one? ;)

By the way, am I the only one nostalgic about the yesteryear of internet activity?

Yep - aren't you a peaceful folk, drinking beer all night and laughing in a cosy pub in the woods? :)

Well, I didn't have internet yesteryear. Got access only in 2002 or so I guess, looking at my first post date.
