It's fine, but then you do realize that it's Marvel movie and they already ruined Iron Man 2 score with John Debney at the helm. It can be as well Silvestri in his more watered-down modern form.

If he is than it shall be a good score. :) I'm excited.

How can you possibly know that?

Are you saying 100% of Alan Silvestri's output is "good"? That there is no chance at all this one could be a "bad" effort from him?

Exactly. SIlvestri wrote some of my favorite all time scores in the 80s and 90s. Hasn't written anything that's grabbed my attention since. People should not expect another BTTF, Predator, or Eraser; It is likely to be more like A-Team, GI Joe, and Night at the Museum

Well, I certainly wouldn't mind as I thought even those 3 scores had some excellent pieces in them, I'm delighted at Silvestri's involvement with this film.

Who knows, with Joe Johnston directing he might turn Silvestri loose and we'll get something really good.

Most Joe Johnston films have good scores to them.

Jason is talking about Captain America.

I dunno, all I see is this at FSM.

I'd keep an eye on this though:

From that first link: "Captain America: The Fist Avenger"

Sounds like the gay porno version of the movie!

Oh, the bottom line is there will be some kind of score in the picture and it will probably invlove an orchestra. Happy now? ;)

Themes are not confirmed though...

Exactly!

I don't consider this to be officially confirmed at all.

Film Music Reporter reported James Newton Howard replacing Gabriel Yared for The Tourist.

Plus, Silvestri's wife confirmed it on Facebook. Sounds weird, but it is.

Not joking. Somewhere on FSM has a link directly to his wife's FB post.

But I'd say FMM is a reputable source. The Gorfaine/Schwartz web site's been lax with updating new projects for their clients.

There is no FB link at FSM.

I have no idea what FB page it is either, if it's his officlal page, personal page or one of the group pages. There are a bunch of Alan Silvestri pages and apparently it is a popular name for men in Europe.

That's why I asked if anyone was friends with him.

I think Debney's effort was constricted. He was clearly told to emulate Djawadi.

Silvestri would be...interesting. I would have preferred MG. I'm still waiting for him to really step it up with a huge score. I'm really hoping he does with John Carter of Mars.

If it wasn't true, Silvestri's reps at Gorfaine/Schwartz would've debunked it already.

Like I said, Film Music Reporter broke the news that JNH would score The Tourist, and that Yared's score was scrapped back in late October/early November. I see no reason to doubt FMR now.

  • 3 weeks later...

It's still better than another argument whether or not we could still expect John Williams to be involved in Deathly Hallows part 2.

Together with Desplat and Enya.
