Jay 45,124 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Here's a lengthy interview with Danny Elfman where he discusses his whole careerhttp://www.buzzinemusic.com/interviews/music-interview-danny-elfman-tim-burton-25th-anniversary-music-box-grammy-museum-06122011Note there's 3 pages
Maurizio 6,744 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Wow, it's a pretty great Q&A. Thanks for sharing it!
crocodile 9,516 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Yeah, it was on the Elfman Box thread.Karol
Jim 6,164 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Lay off Jason - if it wasn't for his obsessive news whoring I wouldn't have a clue what was happening in the world.
Jim 6,164 Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I'm talking real news you idiot.Muppet movies and Disney cash-in sequels.
Koray Savas 2,259 Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Instead of creating a new thread I'll just stick this in here.Elfman did a lengthy Q&A at WB, moderated by Jeff Bond, not too long ago. He discusses Dark Shadows, his career with Burton, and a ton of other stuff. I can't remember much of the details since I watched it a couple weeks back, but I recall him stating Batman is his most overrated score and that Big Fish was the hardest Burton film to pen the music for.

A very candid and fun chat.
KK 3,310 Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 LeBlanc acts like he is the one who comes up with all the news. He is like "Hey, look at me ! I've got news !". I find that despicable. He tends to forget there is someone somewhere doing all the dirty work. A silent guardian, a watchful protector. They call him... The Messenger.Well I heard the Messenger was going into retirement, since nearly everyone else seems to be able to do his job better than he can these days
Once 1,039 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Danny Elfman Scoring Sacha Gervasi’s ‘Hitchcock,’ and ‘Promised Land’ From Gus Van SantI look forward to what he'll do with Hitchcock, him being such a big Herrmann fan!
Maurizio 6,744 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 The curious thing is that that Hitch biopic tells the story of the making of Psycho. Elfman adapted Herrmann's original score for the 1998 remake directed by Gus Van Sant.
KK 3,310 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Wow, that is quite the coincidence! Elfman did a fine job for that Psycho remake though, so it'd be interesting to hear what he'll do with the Hitchcock pic.

I'm excited for this.
Romão 2,457 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 This guy (Paul Schackman) is playing HerrmannPretty much spot on physically
Incanus 5,884 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Wow. Pretty good physical similarity. Now he has to get the cantakerous, volatile and hyper-individualistic attitude and the New York accent and slightly grating voice right.
Kendal_Ozzel 36 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Awesome! Hitchcock must be a dream project for Danny.
nightscape94 968 Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Anthony Hopkins looks pretty good here
Incanus 5,884 Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Awesome! Hitchcock must be a dream project for Danny. That's the first thing I thought when I saw the topic title. Elfman must be right in his element here. Anthony Hopkins looks pretty good hereThat is certainly an impressive similarity.
nightscape94 968 Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 This opens the door for the forthcoming Spielberg, a behind the scenes, dramatic interpretation, about the making of "Jaws", with Jesse Eisenberg in the lead role and Daniel Day-Lewis as Williams.
FBC Director 10,721 Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 This opens the door for the forthcoming Spielberg, a behind the scenes, dramatic interpretation, about the making of "Jaws", with Jesse Eisenberg in the lead role and Daniel Day-Lewis as Williams. And Williams can score it. What a paradox.
Kendal_Ozzel 36 Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Just when you thought it was safe to make a film on the water...
Xander Harris 9,055 Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Why exactly are they making this? I know that Hitch was great and all, but I just never saw this type of biopic ever being made for some reason.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,808 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Is that a reason not to make it?
Koray Savas 2,259 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 My only concern is that it chronicles the production of a single film, but I guess Hitch wasn't that interesting of a person to warrant a life's story.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,808 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 That would be rather conventional.

Matt C 572 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Elfman has just finished composing the score for David O'Russell's American Hustle. Jay 45,124 Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 American Hustle looks like a pretty cool movie too!

It seems very low-key.
Once 1,039 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Most certainly! The film has no supernatural elements, so that should be interesting; even Big Fish had that. The film seems promising too.
crocodile 9,516 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Big Fish is an underrated score actually. But then again, so is the film.Karol ShowUStheHOOK and alicebrallice 2
Koray Savas 2,259 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 I suppose. It's always been my third favorite Burton film/Elfman score.
Thor 9,334 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 BIG FISH is fantastic -- one of my favourites and an Elfman must-have, IMO. Once 1
