What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)

The ending of Superbad is perfect. They realize they have to separate to be with their ladies. They grow up!

Christopher MintzPlasse is perfect in that movie. He's more or less gone on to play variants of the same character for the rest if his career, but in this movie it's a completely original and inspired performance

Hunt for the Wilderpeople by Taiki Waititi

Another great movie from Waititi! Really beautiful, funny and touchy. Too bad this movie doesn't have more recognition, it deserves more.

It's one of my favorite movies from the last decade. I loved it.

Agree. Waititi is one of my favourite directors. I've discover him first with his Ragnarok and then Jojo Rabbit (my personnal favourite) since then I watching each of his movies and they all appear to be very good or excellent! Can't wait for his Next Goal Wins to be released and also his Thor and Star Wars project (but please without Göransson this time...)

Conan the Barbarian (1982)

(US theatrical cut)

Trully one of the greatest scores ever made!

As for the film, I won't be objective since I have a soft spot for Schwarzenegger..

Never say never again. Well, I thought this couldn’t go wrong: Sean Connery playing Bond directed by the guy who did empire Strikes Back. Man, am I disappointed.

But I’ll start with the good stuff. It took some time for me to get used to Connery again, and although I’ll always prefer Roger Moore, he’s quite good. Blofeld and Kim Basinger too. And I just loved Ruth, wish she had had more screen time. Oh, and the song is pretty neat too.

Now, the bad stuff. M is off. Q is off. Give me Desmond Llewelyn! Parts of the movie are rather disjointed and I repeatedly had to consult the Wikipedia summary to understand why they were doing what they were doing. Fatima’s final scene is horrible and the light-hearted ending, while very welcome, is rushed. The first half isn’t really that interesting either. But I’ve saved the best for last: the score. My God. And there was me thinking Thomas Newman was the worst Bond composer. Well, I stand corrected. Okay, one or two moments were nice, but the bulk was awful. Mixed awfully. Brass. Then more brass! AND THEN EVEN LOUDER BRASS! Also, I don’t know who was present at the spotting session, but they clearly didn’t know the first thing about film music. Never again.

It's pretty awful.

Too bad, because Brandauer is better than the original Largo.

Missed opportunity😒

Btw There was a YT video where excerpts from other other Bond scores were substituted!

Still sucks#

Don't forget the recycled jokes, from PORRIDGE.

There's no 'gunbarrel' and no Bond theme due to its unofficial status, an insipid song and score, Irvin Kershner deciding to direct it 'as if there'd been no previous Bond movies', a black Felix Leiter (23 years before Casino Royale did it) which SHOULD have been somewhat ground-breaking but seemingly no-one really noticed/cared, Connery having to take over many of the production duties due to the incompetence of producer Jack Schwartzman and saying that the production 'was a bloody Mickey Mouse operation'. Thunderball is better than it in every conceivable way.

A Few Good Men - 'high-end' military courtroom drama directed by Rob Reiner (back when he could seemingly do no wrong) from a screenplay by Aaron Sorkin (adapting his own play) and with a terrific ensemble cast including Tom Cruise, Demi Moore, Kevin Pollak, Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon and an Oscar-winning Jack Nicholson.

Strangely enough, it was being shown by SyFy.

Just threw on The Birds

Phew, that Tippi sure was a babe. Who can blame Hitch for possibly having been obsessed with her? If I was an old Hollywood dinosaur back then, I'd have used my powers against her too.

I love the leering, pervy shots of her in the movie, as if he made it just for blokes like us.

My wife does that with long running TV shows when it's a storyline that is getting on her nerves. To me that's like an obvious signal to just stop watching that series, but I dunno, people are weird.

"We have Spielberg at home..."

The-Terminal-2004-VHS-Tom-Hanks-Catherine-Zeta-Jones-_1.jpg

I ended my night with Le Terminal and by ended my night, I mean I fell asleep during it because it's so boring. It's like a movie that was actually made by Chris Columbus, filmed by Kaminski and produced by Spielberg and Kennedy. I'm sure in this Modern Era, JWFan considers this one of his best movies.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

THE TERMINAL has its moments (the long pullback from Hanks' character, to reveal the terminal itself, is staggering), but it won't be regarded as one of his greatest. As with a lot of modern films, the score is its best part.

She’s Out Of My League

Goofy flick that tries too hard to be raunchy for rauchiness sake.  There's funny moments throughout but not enough to elevate the flick to anything special.

Where did Alice Eve disappear to?  She was in this then Star Trek Into Darkness then disappeared

I remember really looking forward to this . The premise is great and promised a sharp black comedy.

Instead, we get a flag waving fairy tale ( again)starring Tom Hank's😒

Chris Columbus wouldn't have chosen such a dull subject.

I actually seem to remember news of Spielberg's making of The Terminal as an "it's the end of an era, boys" moment.

The age of world class Spielberg was over.

The Terminal is light and saccharine in a good way. It’s completely harmless and Tucci makes a great antagonist. Nothing special but nice to throw on if you’re in the right mood for it.

True, but that right mood for me turned out to be lying on the couch with a fever, body aches and chills.

I remember, my expectations for The Terminal were quite high because Catch Me if You Can was so brillant as a movie. And listening to the score of The Terminal in advance raised the expectations even higher.

But that's how it is sometimes.

I wouldn't go as far to call it harmless. Turning people's brain into mush isn't without danger.

The film makes me crave a Burger King every time.

Geez, Louise, man, don't!

I live 200 miles, and at least 4hrs. away (including two lengthy car drives, and a ferry ride), from the nearest Burger King. Even without all this bullshit that the world is going through, I can only dream of a Burger King.
