What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)

Yup, the one with the massive rack. 2 Broke Girls is not a great show, but its consistently funny. It's not 'smart' funny (though it has its moments), its 'easy-to-laugh-at-multi-camera-sitcom' funny. The only multicam show I watch, I think.

Anyways, yes, her character in Thor was pointless, and they downplayed her looks by having her in glasses and frumpy sweaters the whole time. Hopefully her character has more to do in the sequel.

Here are some good pics of her:

you're missing out on Big Bang Theory then, and How I Met Your Mother. I have little use for the one camera format so called comedies.

Quint, Two Broke Girls is really a much better comedy now at the end of the 1st season than at the beginning. It's really improved over the course of the season.

I tried watching The Big Bang Theory, but couldn't get into it and gave up around 13 episodes or so. I have been watching HIMYM from the beginning, I forgot about that one.

Single-camera comedies are the best. My favorites are Arrested Development, Scrubs, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Modern Family, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Coupling, The IT Crowd, Better Off Ted, 30 Rock, Community, Knights of Prosperity, The Loop, New Girl, Sons and Daughters, Undeclared....

I enjoyed How I Met Your Mother for the first two seasons or so, and then it fell victim to every other cable network headliner... drag it out until no one watches anymore!

The Big Bang Theory is just too much of a sitcom, with its overly good-looking cast and corny laugh track jokes. Ugh, I can't stand it.

Yea HIMYM has been dragging its feet for years, its really annoying. They have 3-4 episodes a year that are great and tons and tons of filler. I wish they'd just introduce the damn mother already. Would have been nice to see her and Ted dating for a while before the show ended, but ow I feel like her story will be rushed through and we'll barely get to know her before she becomes Ted's life mate. I'm glad next season is the last.

So far 7 complete seasons have aired and he has not met the mother yet, no. I read that Season 8 would be the last, but I suppose CBS could always change their mind and extend it if they wanted to.

Kaley Cuoco and Melissa Rauch do not constitute the majority of the cast. Everyone else looks plain.

I think people give The Big Bang Theory way to much credit. It was amusing in its prime as a big bag of jokes, but now its become unbearable. I just watch it for the sake of watching it, but its really not funny anymore...

On the other hand, shows like 30 Rock and Community continue to be hilarious (especially Community, it being the best sitcom on TV right now...). But the former will be ending with its last season and it won't be long before NBC cancels the latter too... :(

Right, if you didn't find the show funny than that's a valid reason for not liking it :)

Comedies usually need to be funny.

I think sitcoms and broadcast dramas in general probably have five seasons' worth of good material to mine. When you have a sitcom that's past the fifth season, it becomes repetitive and tiresome. Even when Two and a Half Men dumped Charlie Sheen for Ashton Kutcher for its ninth season, it actually got worse.

Some cancellations are a blessing in disguise.

But Community is about as funny as they get. Its one of the rare shows that actually make me laugh, unlike Big Bang Theory which never really gave me any big laughs, even in its prime (which it lost a LONG time ago).

About to see Gunga Din (1939)

then watch Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, they are an amazing pair of films separated by 45 years. You can see some of Steven Spielberg's inspiration.

"30 Rock" doesn't rely on obvious sitcom cliches... it's wittier and clever than that. I don't watch the show regularly, but I find myself chuckling whenever I tune in. Tina Fey is a national treasure.

But the appeal of "The Office" and "Curb" just escape me... so we're at least on the same boat with those.

Tina Fey is an overrated individual, she's just not funny. She disappears around better talent.

Community also stands way above the mediocrity of most of today's sitcoms. It's very funny with clever and witty writing while also treading deep and profound themes. Its an excellent show.

Well, I loved the Office in its prime, never bothered to watch Curb.

It's not genius, but neither was seinfeld. both overrated. Jerry is just an annoying schmuck.

I love 30 Rock, but my appreciation for it was slightly diminished after watching Family Guy. A lot of 30 Rock's style is stolen from that show. Still, it's unique enough to be funny for different reasons.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is genius. I recall Joey not being a fan of Seinfeld (or was it just the finale?) so obviously Curb won't have any appeal.

Seinfeld is one of my all time favorite TV shows, but Curb doesn't hold a candle. It's funny, but after awhile I realized that the episodes are the same thing over and over again. It gets boring.

Tina Fey is an overrated individual, she's just not funny. She disappears around better talent.

Fey is probably the least funny main character in 30 Rock, you're not supposed to laugh at her lines. The funny stuff comes from Baldwin, Morgan, and the other lead female whose name escapes me.

My current favorite TV shows are the Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Colbert Report. I think I prefer the former.

Incidentally, Curb is the best tv comedy I've seen since Ricky Gervais gave us David Brent and Steve Coogan gifted the UK Alan Partridge.

Have you seen Modern Family? It's brilliant! Well, at least the third season is - I still haven't seen the first two

I've been watching Modern Family on and off since its creation. It has some funny moments but overall I find it incredibly cheesy and predictable. And a lot of the actors are really bad.

Really? I felt the exact opposite with the show. And I think the show has a great cast with strong actors.

The blonde mom, the gay guy with the beard, and all the kids except Manny are pretty bad actors IMO. But the stuff that really kills me are the times when an episode is ending and we hear cheesy guitar music while one of the main character explicitly states the message of the episode ("I learned today that...") while we see images of all the main characters laughing and playing a board game together...yuck.

I've got Batman 1989 on right now. One of my favorites. I'm reminded instantly why I love this movie and why I prefer it to the newer ones. A quirky Bruce Wayne that's actually relatable and has charisma, Nicholson as the Joker totally hamming it up, everything designed to look cool first and foremost. The '89 Batmobile is clearly the greatest car ever, but he has to use a ******* grappling hook to take tight turns? I mean, I actually guess I've always found that badass as well.

This movie made Batman so damn cool. Raiders-esque scene where a swordsman using a weapon from the totally wrong era somersaults from behind a wall (?) to challenge Batman and is instantly defeated with a kick. Plus, you've got Lando, the scene where they trash the museum to Prince music, the vehicles loaded with machine guns and bombs, awesome gratuitous shots of Batman posing with his cape and that bizarro scene where Bruce and Joker go to Vicki's apartment. What a great flick.

I always hated the Joker's makeup, the Batmobile and the city that looks like a set.

I also don't like that they kill the Joker and I find the ending too cheesy.

Completely disagree! I think the show's strongest feature is its cast - they are all individually perfect in their roles, and they also all play off against each other perfectly. It's the best casting since Arrested Development

I refuse to believe there is this much great TV on the likes of NBC, ABC, and CBS.

Then you are deluding yourself for no apparent reason. The station a show airs on doesn't matter; It's the creative team behind the show that matters. It's not true that every great show is on cable, and every bad show is on a network. That's an ignorant way of thinking. Or a hipsterish way :P

Spot on! Claire (the blonde mom) perfect nails her character and so does Mitch (gay beard guy). And all the kids are really good actors. In fact out of all the child actors, Manny is my least favourite (although he is good too). I can't imagine why the cast would be considered a flaw of the show, its one of its greatest strengths.

In all honestly it really does. The network decides in the end whether to keep a show going or not and the amount of creative freedom, regardless of how the great team is. Network to a show = studio to a film.

That's not to say there haven't been great shows on popular networks, it's just that they are few and far in between.

Of course! I wasn't saying every network show is good - as with every medium, you have to find the diamond in the rough. But if someone recommends a show and you dismiss it solely because a network happens to be the station that airs it, then you're gonna miss out on a lot of quality television.

Yeah. I wasn't raised in that era (late 1980s), but it's still a lot of fun. Some of the moments you like just pull me out of the movie, then Elfman's awesome score pulls me back in.

I love 30 Rock, but my appreciation for it was slightly diminished after watching Family Guy. A lot of 30 Rock's style is stolen from that show.

I haven't noticed much of FG's humor in 30 Rock. The cutaway scenes are actually funny and to the point, and most of the main characters are likeable. And there's no sudden song-and-dance numbers.

And Tina Fey has some very funny moments in the show. In a cutaway scene, no less.

Oh I'll never dismiss a recommendation based purely on whatever channel it's on. It's just that nearly everything being discussed here I've already been exposed to.

The whole idea of saying a common phrase but meaning the literal interpretation of that phrase rather than the figurative one is a big one. Here's a great example...compare these two gags:

They even use the exact same joke!

She does, but I think she's supposed to be the character the audience relates to more than the one they laugh at.
