Disneyland 2012 CD?

I noticed on my very recent trip to Disneyland that I did not find ANY music CDs of the Disneyland ride music this time like I usually do. NOWHERE, and I looked in every shop I went into. I wonder if this means we will be getting a NEW CD of the ride music early next year? I'm hoping it will have music from Captain EO (I loved James Horner's score portion, and even the songs). It would probably also feature music from that new Little Mermaid ride. I don't know what they would put in for Star Tours though since the ride only used music from the films. So Giacchino really must have only done music in the new cue videos? Interesting... and happy about it. LOL.

Another interesting note was that while I was in California Adventure and went on Soarin Over California that there was music that played in the waiting cue from Goldsmith that was a different rendition of his music for the ride. Has this ever been released? Probably not, but hope it does someday, even though it just aids what is heard in the actual ride music that has been on a couple of the theme park CDs so far (and always should be because it's the best track!).

I also just found this link from some kind of Wiki entry of a Tokyo Disneyland 2012 CD. If it is to be believed, there will be a Captain EO medley of some sort. I really hope it contains the Horner score.

What are your thoughts? And does anyone still think Intrada will be involved somehow instead?

I've been wondering if they might do some sort of release in 2012. If they don't, I'd say it doesn't bode well for the future of Disneyland Resort soundtracks, since this will be a perfect chance to capitalize on all the new stuff in DCA (World of Color, Midway Mania, The Little Mermaid, Cars Land, the new music loops for Paradise Pier and Buena Vista Street, etc.). If they're not going to do a new soundtrack next year, then when? I certainly hope they take advantage of this opportunity.

The load/unload music for Soarin' has indeed circulated online, though I don't think it's on any CDs, sadly. There's also a rather synthy-sounding version of the theme that plays in the staging area before the pre-boarding video plays...I'm kinda guessing that one wasn't done by Goldsmith, and in any case, I haven't come across it anywhere.

And yeah, CDs seem to have completely vanished from Main Street. Very, very saddening to me...that was really the only sort of merchandise I ever bought in the parks.

Maybe Disney is phasing out CD's. I this year more than ever I see it coming very, very soon. You go to Wal-Mart and nobody's looking at the CD's anymore, which have a smaller slection than just five years ago. Ditto also lack of interest in physical DVD's, and all the spots are always full (as opposed to five years ago when you'd find empty spots).

I imagine in a year or two stores like that will stop selling CDs except for new pop artist/rap artists "hits".

After that, compeltely. DVD's should follow suite.

Like the LP, they'll never fully vanish though. And there's always a target audience for it. While downloads are the "shit" for younger people, most score fans -- most especially limited editions -- buy physical CDs. Tons of good reasons; art work, getting it signed, and of course resale value (you'r crappy downloads won't have resale value, sorry), are some. I thought I recalled reading Mikael at MovieScoreMedia saying ina public post download sales were poor.
