Lurker 5
The subject pretty much sums it up. I do not know many of Mr. Goodwins works but Where Eagles Dare is one of the finest war scores ever written. I think I'm going to start checking out some more of his music. I'm sorry that this had to be the catalyst to really get me to listen to his music. You can read all about him here.Neil
Miguel Andrade 1,251
I have a cd he recorded for Chandos in the early 80's, with some quiet good music. Other was not that interesting. And recently got a concert in vhs, featuring him conducting many Hollywood classics, including Williams Jurassic Park. Guest
His BATTLE OF BRITAIN score is one that most Brit kids like me in their 20's know well from schoolboy years. British war films used to be shown every bloody day once. LOL As for the magnificent men in thier flying machines. That one is someting EVERY British kid will know (even thesedays i think).http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B...6994583-1873422
Marian Schedenig 8,089
The Chandos album with Drake 400 and other Goodwin works is pretty outstanding.Marian -

Hitch 57
My good and dear trusted friend, Ron Goodwin, has died at his home in England. Ron, who composed a brilliant and haunting score for my movie FRENZY, was 78. His other excellent scores include 633 Squadron, The Battle of Britain and Where Eagles Dare to name but 3. A frequent visitor to Irish shores, he conducted a concert of his film music in Dublin just before Christmas. May he find solace and peace.Hitch, who is in mourning. Thor 7,385
Didn't know where to put this, but this thread is as good as any. A review of VALHALLA (in Norwegian) by yours truly, in what turned out to be Goodwin's last film project before he passed away: http://celluloidtunes.no/valhalla-ron-goodwin/ Once

Do you know where this image came from?http://celluloidtunes.no/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/valhalla2.jpg I've always wondered whether the film had a widescreen version, but every release that I know of has it in fullscreen (even the digital). I found it just by googling. It appears on numerous sites, like https://www.allmovie.com/movie/valhalla-v121172 With this new soundtrack release, it should really get a proper BR release too, in widescreen. Marian Schedenig 8,089
I've never heard of it before, but if IMDb is correct, it's barely wider than 4:3: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094238/technical?ref_=tt_ql_dt_6
