Can't wait!Yes it sounds pretty authentic as far as bagpipes are concerned. Some modern drum beats (to which I am developing an allergy) here and there but otherwise a-okay. KK 3,202
I'm with you there pal. The modern rhythms and drumbeats really started annoying me in Doyle's career when they showed up in Thor, ever since, you can tell Doyle really likes them. I hope they don't influence this score too much. From what I've heard, Doyle is trying to stay true the ethnic identity of the film, which is great. We'll just have to wait and see what we get in the end.
Marian Schedenig 5,520
Patrick Doyle has had two incredible, amazing, wonderful scores. Henry V and Great Expectations. Music to die for. A Little Princess, Hamlet, La ligne droite, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Much Ado About Nothing. Then there are several more that are just very good overall. And several more that aren't bad, but mostly worth it for one or two highlight moments. I'd count Great Expectations among the latter.
Brónach 490
La ligne droite can't be more repetitive.

At least I think that was you.
KK 3,202
What are you talking about?Doyle's Frankenstein is one his most beloved scores (or so that was my impression). Its definitely one of the man's best. And I love Shearmur's Count of Monte cristo! Not flawless, but a great score!
Marian Schedenig 5,520
Marian, I think you and I are the only two people in the world that enjoy Doyle's Frankenstein. That and Edward Shearmur's Count of Monte Cristo. At least I think that was you.I think Frankenstein is quite popular, at least the loud ballsy parts. What probably makes me different from most others is that The Creation isn't my number one highlight of the score, rather the love theme in its various guises. And yes, Shearmur's Count is cool After being thoroughly disappointed by Reign of Fire, the first score I'd heard by him because of all the praise it got (which still does absolutely nothing for me), I ignored him for years. But Count is a fine score, with very strong highlights - An Invitation to the Ball is fantastic. Reign of Fire is quite nice, too.

JoeinAR 1,759
SORRY but Doyles contribution is less the average. He's a mediocre film composer.
KK 3,202
Considering his recent output, I can say why one would say that (althouh i dont agree at all). But his past work proves otherwise. And Doyle's score is certainly better than Hooper's nonsense and Desplat's questionable work (although I enjoyed the final score).
JoeinAR 1,759
I find Hooper's fifth score to be vastly superior and much more listenable. Desplat's score is servicable. Even Doyles doesn't make people's ears bleed the way a zimmer score does. KK please note I did put least and not worst.
Brónach 490
Doyle's score was better than everything that came after it. It was also quite beautiful.
