Richard Penna 3,687
Somehow I'm not particularly looking forward to this - JNH's last Bourne-esque score, Salt, was remarkably unremarkable I want themes and some action music that doesn't use loops! Hlao-roo 389
I'm more interested in Moby's latest rendition of "Extreme Ways" than I am in Howard's score.
Ren 75
Ugh. Since when is Powell not doing a Bourne movie. Yuck. I think I'd prefer Powell.

Koray Savas 2,251
Tony Gilroy wrote all the previous films. Howard is his go-to composer.

Incanus 5,714
Somehow I'm not particularly looking forward to this - JNH's last Bourne-esque score, Salt, was remarkably unremarkable I want themes and some action music that doesn't use loops!JNH said in an interview made during and after the Dallas Symphony Orchestra concert at the start of this year that this new movie would be more of a kick start on the series and that they wanted to put their own stamp on the movie and music, reinventing the sound rather than slavishly doing what Powell did for the previous scores, but perhaps nodding to his material here and there.Discussion on Bourne movie starts at 20:26 into the video
Hlao-roo 389
And I think we all know how inventive Howard can be!
Incanus 5,714
Well my first thought of what the score is going to be like after listening to the interview was: Prepare the John Powell-like drum loops! Engage!
BloodBoal 7,538
I'm expecting a The Green Lantern Meets The Village while having tea with Salt kind-of score.
Richard Penna 3,687
Well we know what happened the last time he could've given us a Atlantis meets Unbreakable score: meh.My problem is that when JNH ventures into anything close to RCP, he's not particularly interesting. I really want the JNH of a decade ago back.Having said that,he mentions that Water for Elephants, which had a much more traditional score, didn't need anything specialised, musically. So maybe by re-imagining the Bourne world we'll get something with similar emotion.

ymenard 54
James is one of those composers who should cut a little on his project output. You can't sustain writing 5+ scores per year every year. Is it just about the money? Exposure?
Koray Savas 2,251
Maybe he's just really in demand. None of his recent scores are bad, though some are rather bland and average. I'm personally really looking forward to this one.
Richard Penna 3,687
I'll reserve judgement until I hear what style he's gone for.Agree with Koray though - I think he's just in demand because he's shown he can produce scores that satisfy the RCP-esque hunger very quickly. Even the stuff I haven't enjoyed lately (Salt, Snow White) isn't bad for their context. Just thoroughly unremarkable to me as music.
Koray Savas 2,251
I thought Salt was pretty good. Reminded a bit of The Fugitive mixed with a contemporary Powellesque style. The Hunger Games, Snow White And The Hunstman, and Green Lantern are ones that don't really float my boat. They all have some minor moments of promise but he never really fulfills it like he used to in the 00s.

Hunger Games was ok - just not really remarkable outside the film for me. Green Lantern was an abomination in every way. Even when you take away the synths, what's going on underneath still doesn't impress me.I don't think it's the volume, but the type of projects he accepts. Jay 37,355
Looks like Varese pushed this back a week, from July 31st to August 7thhttp://www.varesesarabande.com/servlet/the-1052/Bourne-Legacy%2C-The/Detail
Wycket 36
Well the film got pushed back to avoid DKR more so I'm not surprised. I'm actually looking forward to this and hope its more like Identity than Supremacy or Ultimatum.

gkgyver 1,645
That's probably because there is not much to talk about.I've seen the trailer and listened to the samples, and it all looks and sounds extremely mundane to me.Just not something I would want to go to the movies for. publicist 4,643
Sadly it's only on par with something like THE TOURIST - a slick but undistinguished JNH score.
