It will be interesting to find out if these are orchestral or choral settings of those songs or did Williams just pick such titles for his own cues? He's an incredible musician and gave a heartfelt, wonderful performance of the piece, even better than the one officially recorded by Judith LeClair and the LSO.I'm sure this score will be full of great solos.The line "With Malice Toward None" refers to Lincoln's second inaugural address upon his own re-election--it's one of his most famous addresses:Fondly do we hope—fervently do we pray—that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away. Yet, if God wills that it continue, until all the wealth piled by the bond-man's 250 years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash, shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said 3,000 years ago, so still it must be said, "the judgments of the Lord, are true and righteous altogether". Matt C 452 Posted August 27, 2012 Share Posted August 27, 2012 I do not know a lot about the musician contracting procedure in film score world but could be that DeCrescent contracted all the players on the soundtrack, both the few LA musicians featured, such as Randy Kerber, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.I guess that would make sense, as most U.S. orchestras require their members to have AFM membership anyway.
