Jay 37,287
The Hobbit was first published 75 years ago today I think I was in middle school when I read it for the first time, but I'm not sure. It's certainly inspired lots of other authors and creative types, none more amazing than this:
Incanus 5,713
Happy Birthday to The Hobbit! I remember reading The Hobbit for the first time shortly after reading The Lord of the Rings, now a half life time ago. It was an enchanting novel despite the fact I had plunged into the larger world of Middle Earth with LotR just before and it continues to be that to this day. The charming spirit of adventure and the seemingly effortless creativity and imagination found in its pages are still inspiring.
