BUYSOUNDTRAX Records, under license from TriStar Pictures, presents the GODZILLA: THE ULTIMATE EDITION on 3 CDs, including the complete score to the film, along with a selection of bonus tracks and the original planned album arrangement of David Arnold’s score, previously only available as a promotional release.Following the 1993 box office success of JURASSIC PARK, American producers were on the hunt for similar properties to develop. With the failure of GODZILLA 1985 to capture and hold a modern audience’s attention, the opportunity presented itself for TriStar Pictures to pursue and reach an agreement with the Toho Company for the movie rights to one of cinema’s greatest monsters. After a first attempt to get the project going collapsed in 1994 due to a proposed budget already spiraling out of control, GODZILLA went back into hibernation again, until producer Dean Devlin and director Roland Emmerich were approached for the project. Following their great success with INDEPENDENCE DAY in 1996, they were the perfect candidates to bring the big green lizard back to the screen. After they came up with a fresh take on the subject and, more importantly, a way to bring the budget down to something more manageable, Devlin and Emmerich joined the production and shooting began in 1997.Following their great success on STARGATE and INDEPENDENCE DAY, it was no surprise that Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich would return to composer David Arnold to compose the music for the film. Arriving in Los Angeles in 1997 to work on GODZILLA, Arnold found himself standing before a new set of creative challenges, which included frequent rewriting or rerecording portions of the score due to a constant flow of last minute changes. As a result, music was, more often than not, recorded to blank footage. Many alternate cues were also produced in an attempt to anticipate the action in several major sequences that CGI animators were still rendering. Arnold was able to overcome these obstacles, producing what many consider to be one of the finest orchestral scores of the 1990s.BUYSOUNDTRAX Records presents GODZILLA: THE ULTIMATE EDITION, featuring music composed by David Arnold, conducted by Nicholas Dodd and mastered by James Nelson at Digital Outland. The booklet contains new liner notes written by author David Hirsch. Previously released on compact disc in 2007 and difficult to find, GODZILLA returns to the market again, on 3 CDs, including the complete score to the film, along with a selection of bonus tracks on the first two discs and the original planned album presentation of David Arnold’s score on the third disc, previously only available as a rare promotional release.GODZILLA: THE ULTIMATE EDITION is a limited edition release of 3000 units. Suggested Retail Price is $24.95. GODZILLA: THE ULTIMATE EDITION is available for pre-orders at www.buysoundtrax.com and orders will begin shipping on October 17th, 2012.CD 1THE FILM SCORE1. Not home to check my lll cdI just checked my own personal and you're right! There are some additional alternates. All though for the most parts I don't really care about alternates. I mean some are interesting to hear but I never include alternates with the score in iTunes.Pass. Let those missed LLL's version to have a chance to get this. What's the point of posting "Pass" if you all ready have it? I started the thread for those who missed the LLL release. Wojo 2,456
Pre-orders are currently offered at MovieMusic.com, but as of this moment, SAE doesn't list it at their website.I placed an order for it along with FSM's King Kong and Body Heat. I know that I won't see them until November, but I think I'll be ok.Yes, that's right, I tacked on an extra $25 score to get $1 shipping. Overtime pay is awesome. scallenger 511
I wonder why lll left those alternates off their previous set, since they still had room for them. Maybe they weren't too different? Also, if I remember right, I think there was at least one track on the promo that was either a different edit or even performance with a clean ending to what became a combined cue. Still not home to check!Lol

scallenger 511
Hmm maybe so, Trent. I honestly almost got excited for this release thinking they had somehow found the "darker"version of the score Arnold did before they had him rewrite it to be more majestic.II'm still a bit confused if those tracks were actually even recorded or not?Also... is buysoundtrax records the same company that Prometheus records was? Jay 38,747
For me Godzilla is a distant 5th-best score well after Tomorrow Never Dies, Independence Day, Stargate, and Casino Royale
crocodile 8,361
Why so much love for Casino Royale? I will never understand that, to be honest. The film is entertaining, the score solid with some great passages. But hardly anything spectacular.Karol
Jay 38,747
Oh I agree, Casino Royale is a distant 4th best after the big 3, for me It's like1. Tomorrow Never Dies2. Independence Day...3. Stargate......4. Casino Royale..............5. Godzilla.............................all his other scores
crocodile 8,361
What I like about Godzilla is that is so skillfully translates the old monster movie into a modern action spectacle. Even now 14 years later it still sounds good. And also there are many cool themes and motifs, which are nicely applied and developed. It flows really well.Karol

Admiral Holdo 16
Please do, it's not too far from his Bond scores but with some 70s influence. If he were to do a Live And Let Die-type plot, this is probably how it'd turn out.
Score_Fan 36
Awesome. gonna grab this. Also, I have to say, Quantum of Solace is by far, his best score. Unlucky Bastard 8,459
Casino Royale has some good bits, but the love QoS gets baffles me. I find the score mostly unlistenable, much like how the hyperactively frenetic film is almost unwatchable.Godzilla is a fine score and I remember being pissed that it didn't get a proper album release when the film came out; it was more of a commercialised Sony vehicle than an ernest filmic undertaking with great risk like Emmerich's two previous films. I happily rank this one as equal to Stargate, Last of the Dogmen, Independence Day, Tomorrow Never Dies and Narnia 3.
MrJosh 895
I'm assuming that besides the three alternates that the rest of the score is an exact re-issue of lalalands work, right? For me ID4 is top of my David Arnold list, followed by Stagnate, Godzilla, TND, Last of the Dogmen, rest of bond scores, everything else.
