BLUMENKOHL 1,081
http://www.trekcore.com/merchandise/stds9_soundtrackpre.htmlSimilar to the Star Trek: The Next Generation Collection that the label put out last year, this set celebrates the different composers who worked on Deep Space Nine and is broadly divided into categories based on the composers:Disc One features music by Dennis McCarthy including cues from episodes such as "Duet", "The Circle", "The Die is Cast", "Far Beyond the Stars" and many more.Disc Two features music by Jay Chattaway with cues from episodes including "The Search", "Call to Arms", "The Changing Face of Evil" and many more.Disc Three features the huge array of guest composers who worked on Deep Space Nine, titled "New Recruits" and showcases the works of John Debney, Richard Bellis, David Bell, Gregory Smith and Paul Baillargeon.Disc Four sports the intriguing title of "The Lost Album" and puts the spotlight on three episodes with a fuller selection of cues from these episodes. All will be revealed soon, but I will tell you that the first episode on the disc is "Our Man Bashir"!The world is ending.
Nick1Ø66 5,946
Best Trek series by far, especially the last four seasons. All the music from TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT sounds the same to me though.

Nick1Ø66 5,946
All the music from TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT sounds the same to me though.Uh no, not all of it not by a long shot. You obviously don't pay attention to the music very well... I didn't say it was all the same...I said to me it sounded the same. Which I assure you is a 100% accurate statement. I admit I've never paid much attention to the music in the Trek series, and I'm sure there are great differences. I know different people have their favourite Trek composers, it's just that not much of it has ever really stood out to me. One exception was TNG's "Q Who", where they first encountered the Borg. That score really stood out to me, it was beautifully atmospheric and captured the ominous tone of the events perfectly.
Wojo 2,456
For reasons I can't quite put into words, this set doesn't have me as excited as the TOS box. Unfortunately, my Trek completist disorder won't let me not order it.

Jay 39,354
It’s something many Deep Space Nine fans have been waiting to see come down the wormhole, and it will arrive on Feb. 12. Disc Three showcases the so-called “New Recruits”: Debney, Bell, Smith and Baillargeon, and Disc Four, entitled “The Lost Album” features material that was prepared by music producers and the composers for a never-released soundtrack. The set also comes with a 36-page booklet of detailed liner notes penned by Star Trek historian and frequent La-La Land contributor Jeff Bond.La-La Land will produce only 300 units of the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Collection, making it a truly limited edition. All I remember from it is the "dum dum.........dumdum-dumdum.................dum dum...............dumdum-dumdum" towards the end with the insane Garak coming for us stuff. It's the only DS9 score I still actively remember. Plenty of those creepy string scales Goldsmith employed in Final Conflict (and Williams later in JP). It's the McCarthy stuff that's always left me indifferent. #SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,404
Chattaway really is pretty much a poor man's Jerry Goldsmith. But that's not really a bad thing.
Nick1Ø66 5,946
What they really need to do is release DS9, which is far and away the best Trek series, on BD. Yeah, it will involve a lot of work, and it looks like it will be the last series to get the restored and remastered treatment. But it would be a no-brainer purchase for me, especially the last four seasons which were some of the best science fiction ever on TV.

BLUMENKOHL 1,081
Sadly one thing that strikes me with this set is that without the sound effects of the show, the 37-piece orchestra just can't pass muster. David Bell is the only composer who manages to orchestrate well enough to overcome the orchestra size limitation. But the music...the music is great. I just wish there was a 70 or 80 piece orchestra playing A Call to Arms.

Wojo 2,456
Truthfully, I'd like to see the track list, so I know what tracks aren't on the four disc LLL set. I would only add main and end titles to episodes for which you have complete scores, instead of just highlights, but even that would be tedious. I thought I wanted to do that with my TNG episodes, but so so many of those scores are complete. The only advantage it brings is to tell you where the breaks between episodes are, which you should be able to tell from each episode's finale.
