Ollie 859
Well?A dumb poll perhaps? Well there have been plenty of those here so I'm just adding to the madness. The choices are serious though. These would be the top, obvious choices.

Quintus 5,391
John Williams or Michael Giacchino. Great answer you wimp! There's no other outcome. Although if I had it my way it'd be decided in an abandoned coal mine in the Bolivian mountains.
Jilal 436
If he's still alive, John Williams'll score it. If not, Michael Giacchino. On the other hand, I'd really like Mark Griskey to score it.

Koray Savas 2,095
Giacchino, then Powell. Wishful thinking. If we're talking who will actually do it, Giacchino.
Red 73
Giacchino, if not Williams. But I doubt JW will do it.
KK 3,202
As much as I'd like to see Williams score it, it'll be Giacchino's name attached to the film.

gkgyver 1,638
Williams won't do it, not with another director attached, and not with today's post-production mayhems. He said he looks forward to continue to work with Lucas, but Lucas won't direct and probably won't have final say. Of course he recently said he is still very open to films other than Spielberg's and Lucas', but that offer to other directors goes with the unspoken prerequisite that these directors adapt to his way of working, meaning pencil, paper, piano and no elaborate guide tracks. Last time a different director pushed Williams, he was reportedly quite exhausted, and now he's almost ten years older, and by the time scoring begins even more than that.Plus, who knows what plans the Disney people have and how Williams would react to them and vice versa. Has Williams done a Disney production ever?Long story short, if anything, Williams will write a theme or two, but not more.

Last time a different director pushed Williams, he was reportedly quite exhausted, and now he's almost ten years older, and by the time scoring begins even more than that. This may be the best and most logical explanation I've seen yet for why Williams' involvement is unlikely.I remain hopeful, but doubtful.- Uni

Matt C 423
Realistically, it's gonna be Giacchino. But I do like Koray's suggestion of Powell doing a SW score. Could be quite something.
Datameister 1,394
It will either be Williams or Giacchino. I voted for Giacchino, though I'd prefer to see Williams do it. I figure Giacchino's got about a 60-70% chance right now, and the rest is all Williams.

I'm torn between old pro and new blood/direction.Hey, talking of new directions, how about One Direction recording the title song to accompany the trendy new update of the opening crawl? Sandor 459
I think people forget Memoirs Of A Geisha, a film Williams WANTED to score, even though Spielberg wasn't directing. Still; Spielberg was as much involved (certainly at one point) as Lucas probably will be on Episode VII.

Giftheck 573
Ironically enough, I don't see Williams' recommended composer from JP3 on that list. I'd love to see Don Davis take a whack at it personally.

Giftheck 573
I think his last film was The Good Life. In the last couple of years he did a live performance of the entire score to The Matrix to the film.
BLUMENKOHL 1,064
Shame he isn't as active as he used to be, I thought he did a fine job throughout his career.JP3 even was quite good.
Giftheck 573
Yeah, he proved that he could take Williams' style and add his own thing to it rather than solely trying to copy it straight up.
