Well?

A dumb poll perhaps? Well there have been plenty of those here so I'm just adding to the madness.

The choices are serious though. These would be the top, obvious choices.

Williams won't do it, not with another director attached, and not with today's post-production mayhems.

He said he looks forward to continue to work with Lucas, but Lucas won't direct and probably won't have final say. Of course he recently said he is still very open to films other than Spielberg's and Lucas', but that offer to other directors goes with the unspoken prerequisite that these directors adapt to his way of working, meaning pencil, paper, piano and no elaborate guide tracks. Last time a different director pushed Williams, he was reportedly quite exhausted, and now he's almost ten years older, and by the time scoring begins even more than that.

Plus, who knows what plans the Disney people have and how Williams would react to them and vice versa. Has Williams done a Disney production ever?

Long story short, if anything, Williams will write a theme or two, but not more.

This may be the best and most logical explanation I've seen yet for why Williams' involvement is unlikely.

I remain hopeful, but doubtful.

Realistically, it's gonna be Giacchino.

But I do like Koray's suggestion of Powell doing a SW score.

So do I actually. I'm torn between old pro and new blood/direction.

Hey, talking of new directions, how about One Direction recording the title song to accompany the trendy new update of the opening crawl?

I think people forget Memoirs Of A Geisha, a film Williams WANTED to score, even though Spielberg wasn't directing. Still; Spielberg was as much involved (certainly at one point) as Lucas probably will be on Episode VII.

I thought Don Davis was dead.

What's he been up to lately?

You might be thinking of Don S. Davis, who played General Hammond in the Stargate franchise. He is dead.

The composer is Don R. and still draws breath.

The fastest way Giacchino can show he is not the next John Williams is to in fact become the successor to John Williams.

Am I the only one seeing all posts since yesterday, 9:32 PM in bold?

I have no ideal what you're talking about.

He's still fishing for a major film to score, but can't seem to find a decent gig.
