AC1 3,565
Mrs. Jhabvala made 22 films with Mr. Merchant and Mr. Ivory, all examining culture in one way or another, often one that has vanished.http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/04/movies/ruth-prawer-jhabvala-writer-dies-at-85.html?pagewanted=all&_r=1h[OfdTsR,1]

AC1 3,565
Another sad thing is that all of the key people of James Ivory has passed away now: Ismail Merchant (2005), Richard Robbins (2012) and now Ruth Prawler Jhabvala (2013). Her screen adaptation highlights are Howards End, The Remains Of The Day, A Room With A View ... Oddly enough she didn't work on Maurice.
Thor 5,273
THE REMAINS OF THE DAY is one of my favourite films from the 90's, and I like the other Merchant/Ivory stuff too. However, I've never read any of the Jhabvala's literature. Sorry to hear about her passing.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,251
I guess people cared more about the person who reviewed these movies then they did about the person who wrote them....
