It is actually a full-length sequel to two short, independent Spanish 3D animated films, despite not making any reference to those earlier films except by main character and style:

It is quite a fun 3D animated adventure film that pays loving homage to the Indiana Jones films in many ways, as well as at least one Star Wars reference too.

But references aside, it is quite entertaining on its own as well.

There is even a short quote of the Raiders March in the film (can be found on OST track #5 "The Airport") when Tadeo receives his hat that "once belonged to Indiana Jones".
