mstrox 6,649
This isn't new news - the next Star Wars was slated for December 2022. The rumor mill was that this would be the GoT guys' movie, but that's a lot of time for development, so presumably some Star Wars movie of some type will slide into that spot to keep Disney's plans in place. Edmilson 7,424
Now with Dumb & Dumber out of the picture and the uncertain situation facing Rian Johnson's trilogy, I can imagine Disney postponing the scheduled SW movie dated for 2022. Unless they fast track Feige's movie (that'll probably begin its own series), it's probable that the big fantasy movie for Christmas 2022 will be Aquaman 2, just like in 2018. Balahkay 627
I'm guessing their waiting to make any real decisions until after TROS is released. From what I've read, it'll either be a huge success or a big flop. I'm guessing it will be financially successful but won't bring in TFA numbers. It's hard to gauge since the opinions of TROS are all over the place on social media.

I think they should be afraid after Solo and all the bad publicity lately. I live in Houston and out of curiosity, I've looked at the seating selection for the first showings at various theaters around the city. Most of them around half full, a few 80-90% but none of them sold out, yet. I would have expected more ticket sales from the 4th largest city in the US but maybe there aren't a lot of SW fans here. The IMAX 3D showing I booked isn't even half full yet. This may not be an indicator of anything (maybe a lot of people don't buy tickets ahead of time) but it's interesting to look at regardless. 5 minutes ago, Thekthithm said: I'm sticking to my theory that people generally don't like hoarding SW toys and dolls like they used to. mstrox 6,649
Presales don't equal total sales - a movie could have excellent presales (say, due to a large, intense fanbase) but then not sell tickets to the general public - look at Solo! Disco Stu 15,495
This story is relevant: https://www.slashfilm.com/star-wars-the-rise-of-skywalker-tracking/ Quote According to Box Office Pro, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is projected to rake in between $185-225 million on its opening weekend, with the website estimating a three-day box office haul of $200 million. That would make The Rise of Skywalker‘s opening weekend the the lowest-performing of the sequel trilogy. Comparatively, The Force Awakens opened to $247.9 million while The Last Jedi opened to $220 million. Chen G.

Edmilson 7,424
On the opening weekend, yeah, sure. But if the movie have some legs during the Christmas season and into January, this will more than compensate for the "smaller" opening. It will show that people actually liked the movie, and that it great word of mouth. Combine this with a very likely good reception for The Mandalorian, and I guess SW will be in a good place by the beginning of next year. Now, if the movie opens with less than TLJ (say, US$ 202m, on par with Black Panther's opening weekend) and have legs similar to TLJ or (gulp) Avengers: Infinity War, it will end its career with US$ 532m - US$ 569m, and that would be really disappointing and demoralizing for LFL (although probably still lucrative for Disney). mstrox 6,649
Claire & Stegosaurus? Hasbro must be reading my slashfic! I collect one 6" toy from each movie as it comes out, usually down the line on clearance. I usually just pick the characters I like the most. I have Rey, Jyn Erso, Hera Syndulla, Rose Tico, and Solo-era Lando. I'm still looking for a Dr. Aphra (comics character) in the wild. If I were a more intense Star Wars collector, I'd be frustrated, because it seems like the same 10 figures have sat on shelves since 2015, at least in my local Targets. A new wave comes out, it sells out in a day or two, and then all that's left are the same bunch of Solo Chewbaccas and The Force Awakens troopers. I don't think kids buy action figures much anymore - by the time they're old enough to get REALLY into Star Wars, they're old enough to do apps and video games. I'll side with any other anti-Fallon people. Counterintuitive because silly is my game, but Fallon doesn't make me laugh, and his packaged-for-social-media promotional stunts like this just make me feel embarrassed.
