Once again, people who know nothing serious about film music trying to talk about it like they do. Absolutely unbearable.

Like that Lowder fellow? Notorious for spewing out bullshit like the following:

In the wake of the Paris terrorist attack...

In the wake of Charlie Sheen's shock announcement...

In the wake of the tragic shooting in Wherever, USA...

In the wake of your grandpa laughing somewhere...

Make this fucking phrase disappear!!

But one of the rules of thumb in good journalism is to keep it simple in communicating a message. Usually this is accomplished by saying a lot in as few words as possible.

The phrase "in the wake of" not only violates that rule, it just sounds bloody stupid.

It's as bad as "a sudden death event".

But now that I've pointed it out, and that you have all seen it, you will never unsee it. You will become overwhelmed by frustration everytime you read it or hear a newscaster say it.

It will haunt you forever.

Dear Alexander,

I agree with your message.

I look forward to talking with you more often.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Sir or Madam,

Thank you for your most illuminating post.

I must say that I too am guilty of this formality, and out of habit continue to use it in texting and emails (very possibly to the great mirth of managers and businesses with whom I have contact through this electronic medium). It seems that nobody told me that the days of formal letter writing appear to have passed (or at least, on electronic communication), and I am always initially surprised to receive email communication from companies and managers to whom I sent formal contact, beginning with - "Hey" or "Hi" and my first name.

Slowly but surely though, I am 'getting with the program' and improving daily.

I will keep you updated regards my progress of integration into the modern world.

Yours sincerely

Melange (Muad'Dib, Usul)

Microedit

Just call it an edit. What the fuck is a microedit?

An edit that is micro.

What does that even mean? I'm sorry, but the fact is that someone started using this term, quite possibly even the person who coined it, and then others read it and started using it themselves. There's simply no reason for the term to exist.
