I was going to give it a swerve because it falls slap bang in the middle of the World Cup, but it looks like there are no games on that day. Has there been any news on which orchestra will perform? My money would have been on the RPO, but it looks like they already have a gig at the RAH that evening, so I am guessing the LPO or the Philharmonia.Have you been to the Royal Festival Hall before, Karol? It used to be a shithole but it's really rather nice since they refurbished it a few years back and they've even got the organ back working. I sponsored one of the smallest pipes. Omen II 1,235 Posted July 6, 2014 Share Posted July 6, 2014 As there were no programmes issued for this evening's concert, can anyone list exactly what was played, please? I caught what most things were but did not know what the opening piece was, or everything that was in the James Bond medley.This concert was ace, by the way. While Nicholas Dodd conducted as expected, David Arnold introduced most of the pieces and played guitars or keyboard in several selections, as well as singing a couple of his songs (very nicely too I might add), for example a new song he had written for the musical version of Made In Dagenham. Those of you that like Sherlock will have loved the suite from the TV series, with co-composer Michael Price taking over conducting duties. Several of the cast members were in the audience, Amanda Abbington and Mark Gatiss coming on stage to introduce the music.Apart from that it was great to hear Last of the Dogmen and of course Independence Day to round things off. The orchestra had been contracted specially and did really well considering they had apparently not seen the music before midday on the day of the concert! The concert did finish pretty late (I think about 22.50) so anyone who lived much outside London and relied on public transport may have struggled to get home.
