I wouldn't call the first film a masterpiece - it's a fairly enjoyable stylish load of fluff with a pseudo-philosophical veneer. It's also pretty self-contained, the others feel like they have no reason to exist. I don't need to see how the machines are defeated or whatever.

Sadly couldn't care less and still haven't seen Revolutions.

The Matrix mythology for me starts and ends with the first masterpiece film.

It does, it is.

Too bad they can't seem to make another good film. Of course, if true, the new Matrix Trilogy won't be any good but I will check it out anyway.

I'll be interested if it means Don Davis finally gets back into the spotlight.

Agreed.

The Wachowskis haven't gone to the RC folks before, and usually have an interesting say in the music. If they're going through with this, I wouldn't put the idea of calling back Don Davis past them.

Indeed. But granted his current career in film music is on the edge of non-existence, I'm not sure he has much of a choice.

Davis or Giacchino. Can't go wrong.

Nah. You can't get the kind of sound Davis came up with through Giacchino.

Big difference between the two, and for a world with an already established, defining sound, it's clear who you should go with.

I think film in general bores him these days. He's more interested in working on his concert projects.

I read on a friends Facebook page that Latino Review has fabricated information before.

IF and I stretch that... a new Trilogy is made I would NOT be surprised if the Wachoski brothers have Don Davis come back.

As much as I like all three films, do we seriously need more? Especially if they might be Prequels? Ugh....just....

It's the kind of premise that may offer plenty of varied material - doresn't need to have anything to do with The Ones or any of this nonsense. Plus, Warner might need to resurrect some franchises.

Who says we even need him. I mean, look at The Animatrix shorts - they're much more interesting than any of the sequels and some of them have literally nothing to do with the films.

That too ... but will you keep on seeing them if the first one turns out to be pure Scheiße?
