Incanus 5,713
Congratulations Maestro! Looks like Williams garnered nearly half of all the votes.
Luke Skywalker 1,793
at last some decency in Soundtrack awards...NICE!I just hope Williams thanks you personally inviting you to interview him.
Joni Wiljami 1,206
Great!Of course Williams wins, since all the voters are film music fans and music lovers. At the Oscarsthe most of the voters are music haters, the odds their faces are lifted is 68%. Not my show.
Jonesy 55
Cool At least there are people who appreciate Williams' music.
Thor 7,478
Williams didn't do a lot in 2013, though. THE BOOK THIEF, the "Conversations" piece (that no one has heard yet), the "To the President's Own" fanfare. Anything else?
scissorhands 16
So how come he's the best foreign composer of the year but hasn't written the best foreign score? Of course Williams wins, since all the voters are film music fans and music lovers.Actually, Williams' winning is more the exception than the rule. Just take a look at the prestigious awards of the International Film Music Critics Association, which pick more often than not scores as bad as those that win an Oscar. It comes as no surprise given the background (mostly non-musically schooled) of most of its members, but it's really sad that JW is so overlooked here and elsewhere. Thor 7,478
Ouch. I'm an IFMCA member, scissorhands, and I wouldn't be so quick to judge the background of the membership without proper knowledge. I'm not sure what you think is so 'bad' with our nominations, though. If anything, we also pick several unknown scores that are overlooked in the "popularity contests" of other organizations -- in fact the only instance to do so. Most of us listen to hundreds of scores each year, and watch an equally high number of movies before we cast our nomination votes. Joni Wiljami 1,206
That must be very irritating for you, the one who don't get it. His music.
Popular Post TownerFan 4,983
So how come he's the best foreign composer of the year but hasn't written the best foreign score? Because Siliotto's score probably had more fans than The Book Thief, I guess. Keep in mind that these are not critic awards, but a public poll open to everyone, so literally anyone can win. We staff members of ColonneSonore.net selected the nominees through an internal ballot and tried to compile a selection of candidates as much varied as possible. Also, we don't claim to consider these as "prestigious" awards like IFMCA or Oscars or other very important accolades. We simply want to give our followers (i.e. fans) the opportunity to single out their favorite works and composers of the year and then give the composers a recognition for it. We're very happy that industry people here in Italy reacted very well to our initiative and gave us lots of positive feedback. Also, last year we received pictures from Williams and Shore posing with their plaques, which is something that made us very happy as well. But we don't claim any kind of distinction for it.
