Sharkissimo 1,973
4 days late on this, but it's never too late to pay ones respects. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-26646395 Amazing resumé this guy had. MOULIN ROUGE (1951), MOBY DICK, LOOK BACK IN ANGER, THE ENTERTAINER, LOLITA, THE HILL, THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD, OLIVER!, FIDLER ON THE ROOF, THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, THE ODESSA FILE, THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING, EQUUS, THE WIZ and THE DARK CRYSTAL. Ossie or Os as his friends called him, was one of the earliest pioneers of soft lighting (i.e. what we call modern cinematography) and fog filters with colour film, two decades before they caught on in the 70s. And as TSWCIFTC and LOLITA show, he also a master at b&W. Roger Deakins studied under him at the National Film and TV School and Morris is one of his biggest influences. RIP you genius. Looking at the Telegraph obit' he had some stories to tell about actors and directors, naturally. And judging by the DFC and AFC a brave man to boot. Bomber Command no less.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/10708990/Oswald-Morris.htmlWhat a rare and fine breed they were, that generation.
