This should be Spielberg's next movie project

The tale of the self promoting spambot Fijika who eventually gained a conciousness and seached for a body

So...was the mystery solved?

Wow that was a big blast! *cough, cough couhg* But I'm ok. I'm ok. I think I am ok... Wait up Glóin! I will help you to form this new forum as long as it is yours to form!

So you were reborn to become....me?

Um...no. There is only one Grey Moderator here! That is just my condition after a rowdy Saturday night or a nuke blast. Either way it gets a bit rough.

So do we have to destroy this Fylkja?

Is she the one causing the site to be slow?

Posted

We at JWFan are the world's last hope. The fulfillment of the prophecy. We're gonna save the world because we're the chosen ones. Evil has returned. Only one message board can stand in its way. And if we fail then the world as we know it and everything we love will be destroyed. It won't be easy. We'll face some obstacles at the beginning. Maybe meet someone old and wise (JW?) who will put us back on the right path. Maybe there's a girl who needs saving, but who then saves us in a refreshing twist on fictional gender roles, but who then ends up being a stock damsel in distress after all.

Fylkja must be destroyed.

*cue pounding drums and wailing choirs*

Hold on, if we are waging this war against the spambots, doesn't that put you out of the equation Stiff?

At some point I should probably just go ahead and prune all accounts with 0 posts, eh?

But seriously, could a program that keeps accessing it's own profile like this cause the MB to slow down? Is it similar to a virus?

Posted

But what is it doing? What's it's purpose? It's not posting span.

There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus....

And why did a spambot take time to create a pretty elf avatar?

Oh I recognized that woman in the avatar. She is the main female character Lagertha from the series Vikings played by Katheryn Winnick.

Winnick has rather winning and memorable features, hence my instant recognition.

Dunno but the other day I accessed the site from a new browser and JWFan attempted to install something on my phone. Luckily the browser picked it up and asked if I wanted to block it.

This still doesn't make sense. It actually makes less sense if it's a real account with a real person and not a spambot somehow self-generating its many profile views.  Are there really that many people clicking on it because of the chick pic and feminine name (which by the way seems to be an Icelandic word meaning "rally")?

I reckon if all the "What is the last score you listened to?" and "What is the last film you watched?" threads were merged together (they used to be locked every 100 pages), they'd have more views

This Fyljka enchantress is more powerful than we imagined. She will bring the downfall of JWFan!

Maybe that explains the recent JWFan outage.

Good day, gentlemen.

This is a prerecorded briefing, made prior to your login.  And which, for security reasons of the highest importance, has been known on-forum during the mission only by your STEF9000 computer.  Now that you are in Icelandic space, and the entire forum is revived, it can be told to you.

Fourteen months ago, the first evidence of intelligent life behind Fylkja was discovered.  It was buried on the third page of this thread five posts below the surface, near Joey.

Except for a single, very powerful, winky face aimed at JWFan, the four year old account has remained completely inert... its origin and purpose, still a total mystery.
