Characters are a bit more 'scummy' (not your classic role models) but the action is pure Marvel.

'Scummy'. As opposed to The Boys or Suicide Squad where they are actually scummy.

This looks like it could be alright.

Not that she's been bad in anything I've seen her in but she was surprisingly good in Dune.

She's one of the best actors working today!

I don't think Richard saw any of these movies

Now, just a damn minute!

I saw DUNE 2 (yawn), and OPPENHEIMER (can't remember a single thing about her).

I'll stick with Julie Christie, ta, awfully :)

She was the communist mistress that Oppenheimer sleeps with that later kills herself

I can't decide if this looks great or really dull. Also, I find it hilarious that there are effectively three separate characters in this film who all live in the shadow of Captain America.

It been about two years since I saw OPPENHEIMER, so my memory is a bit fuzzy. I think I've done too much LDS.

Ps, why would I want to see pictures of a naked Florence Pugh?

That's quite an achievement since it's only been out for just over a year.

Oh no! Despite the efforts of the about 45 people who actually paid their hard-earned money to see this in theaters, Disney still lost almost US$ 300 millions with The Marvels.

‘The Marvels' Actual Budget Leaks ($378M) —Nearly $300M in Losses

It's amazing how such a cheap-looking film with lots of horrible CGI cost almost US$ 400 millions to make. Meanwhile, each Dune flick cost almost half of The Marvels and they all look stunning. Heck, Godzilla Minus One is much more impressive in terms of special effects and it cost a fraction of this crap!

Honestly, there has to be some kind of money laudering scheme in work at Disney. Or at the very least someone is earning more money than they deserve (Feige? Iger? Larson?)

Luckily for them, Disney at least has 'Inside Out 2' and 'Deadpool & Wolverine' to help counteract the massive losses of 'Lightyear', 'The Marvels', 'Dial of Destiny', and if we include streaming, the complete financial disaster that is 'The Acolyte'.

  • 2 weeks later...

Marvel Studios reportedly dropped Kang not only because of Jonathan Majors, but also due to LOW FAN INTEREST in the character.😲
They then brought back Robert Downey Jr. to play Doctor Doom to generate more hype for the upcoming #Avengers films.

It's The Mouse, among the most evil and avaricious organisations on the face of the planet, so, yeah, I believe it.

Wait wait wait. On the Star Wars side they are evil and avaricious because they keep pushing junk that nobody really wants but on the MCU side they are evil and avaricious because they are CHANGING their plans because they believe that no one wants them?

Diabolical.

More rumours, so your choice to believe it or not: Robert DOOMney Jr. will have an important and crucial relationship with Tom Holland's Spiderman (suggesting that this Doom is a Tony Stark variant that went down a darker path). Also, Capt. Marvel will be important in the two Avengers movies.

Um... Sure? Stark and Parker was one of the truly unexpected and really good things that is totally original to the MCU. So... Don't screw it up?

Good. When you look at how effortlessly Infinity War picked up Black Panther even though the movie hadn't been a hit yet when they were making IW it's really sad how badly they dropped the ball with Marvel. I can only speak for my house, but my one of the big things we were looking forward to was what happened next after the Captain Marvel movie. And she's a little more than a cameo in Endgame.

Tom Holland on shooting Spiderman No Way Home during the height of the pandemic:

"One of the unfortunate things about Spider-Man[: No Way Home] was we shot it in peak COVID times," he recalls. "We shot everything in a studio which meant, I think in the process of making that film, I might have done three days on location. You can feel it in the film, I think."

"When we're walking through New York, they sent a crew to New York to shoot the streets with a motion camera jib. Then they brought that piece of kit back to Atlanta and then they would make on the floor, 'There's an extra here. There's a dog here. There's a sidewalk here.' Then I'd have to map out what I was going to do in a pre-existing shot."

Holland added, "This is going to make me sound really difficult but I got over it and we figured it out. The camera was moving way slower than Peter Parker would usually walk. Peter Parker's very bubbly, very quick. Everything is about getting from A to B as quickly as possible without thinking and this shot that they had was this really slow, meandering camera angle through New York."

"Peter is supposed to be in a rush to get to Doctor Strange to ask him this question, and I found it really difficult to portray, 'I'm stressed and in a rush...but walking really slowly,' I actually think that shot isn't in the film because it didn't work."

It's easy enough to understand Holland's frustrations, particularly when it lessened his experience of playing Spider-Man. Both Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home spent a great deal more time on location, with filming taking place in New York City for some scenes.

We'd imagine one of Holland's conditions for Spider-Man 4 is that history doesn't repeat itself, something which shouldn't be an issue now COVID restrictions are no longer in place.

As much as this is my least favorite movie of the Holland trilogy, I'm kinda amazed by how they managed to do everything under Covid and it became one of the biggest movies of all time.

When I see some of the characters and concepts that they tried since Thanos I think "Really? Who was asking for that?" (Mind you, who was asking for Guardians of the Galaxy, so what do I know?)

Blade seems like one of the things that people WOULD be asking for!

We just watched that. It was still pretty good. And they made The Magnificent Seven after that, not that anyone noticed.

That Costner fellow seems to have been busy lately...

Holland will be in three movies that summer. Nolan's new movie, Avengers, and this. He's a busy man

Presumably Hulu will eventually just fold into Disney+.  Like most streaming services, parental controls are available for children’s profiles and adult profiles can be locked/password protected.
