The MCU - Marvel Cinematic Universe

Thankfully my kids are teenagers now, but it was nice to have one streaming service that didn't NEED parental controls. I thought it should have been a fairly savvy model to have Disney+ be the Disneyland of streamers and put their harder stuff on Hulu.

Then I started seeing American Horror Story posters on the home page and I knew that ship had sailed, dropped people off, got sunk, raised, and put in a museum.

This trailer bugs me because clearly they think their flagship offerings are Daredevil and Deadpool. Which, sure. That's where all their money is. Because heaven knows Disney never built an empire off of family friendly offerings in the past.

This is the first time these words have ever been uttered by a parent in human history.

Oh no. I like having older kids WAY more than little kids.

You can joke about it, but Agatha All Along is one of the best and most cohesive shows Marvel has done.

I really do need to watch it. I just realized that Marvel has done more to crush my interest than Star Wars has.

Marvel Studios' 2025 slate of movies and shows:

r/KotakuInAction - I don't see much hope for this.

Out of any of these, only Fantastic Four interests me. The rest.... Not so much. Stuff like Ironheart doesn't even look mildly entertaining and instead looks like Disney/Marvel is actually trying to lose money.

I wish I was more interested in Daredevil but I haven't even seen season 3 of the (previously on) Netflix show. These "Defendersverse" shows got real boring really quick (though I kinda liked Punisher S1).

  • The "pre-Stark" Spider-Man looks interesting and hopefully good.
  • Cap is I hope a step back to "Let's do a Superhero Movie" for Marvel.
  • Daredevil: Still all on board.
  • Thunderbolts actually has my interest. But could well suck.
  • Ironheart: Who cares? (Prove me wrong.)
  • FF - It's happening!
  • Everything else: I don't care.

Yes. Lotta "hope". I realize that.

In other words: the more interesting stuff will all be released in the first seven months of the year (aside from Ironheart, naturally). The remaining five months will be filled with boring stuff that only MCU diehards will watch.

I've been meaning to rewatch the old Netflix Daredevil show to see if this time I'll like it more than the first time, but I dunno... 3 seasons of 13 episodes, each one with a running time of 1 hour or more, seems like a huge chore to get through.

I watched

Daredevil - 2 1/2 seasons. (It was good, but life, you know? I need to finish it.)

Jessica Jones - 1st season. Which was good, and I knew it was going to be a tough watch. No need to see season 2.

Luke Cage - A few episodes. I like the guy. That was it.

Power Fist - A few episodes. (I think. I hope I didn't actually finish the season.) Really, nothing good there.

Defenders: That was a hoot.

Funny thing about Jessica Jones was that they took the story that capped off the series. The one that was kind of playing against the rest of the book. And they made that THE SHOW. Oy.

If they could somehow make the real Jessica Jones it would be awesome. And maybe with Disney+ you could do it now. She-Hulk felt more like JJ. She's the private investigator / body-guard to the superheroes. So you need Matt Murdock and Steve Rogers to show up for a scene or an episode to make that feel real. She kind of exists between the panels of the other comics.

Out of all the Netflix shows, I watched:

  • 2 seasons of Daredevil, didn't see the third one.
  • First season of Jessica Jones (did it get a season 2?)
  • Luke Cage season 1 (also not sure if it got other seasons)
  • The first 15 minutes or so of the first episode of Power Fist
  • The Punisher season 1

I've never seen Defenders or any of the seasons that came out post-Defenders, except for Punisher S1.

I have seen pretty much all of the shows minus Luke Cage.

Luke Cage is really good in the first few episodes. But when Mahershala Ali's villain dies and they replace him with a worse antagonist it becomes utter dog poo.

Jessica had 3 seasons.

BTW, it's Iron Fist. (It's not great, Season 2 was a slight improvement in some respects)

Neither look terrible. Thunderbolts looks pretty good.

Still don't understand why, when you aged actor passes away, you would say "Let's get someone REALLY old!"

I hope I didn't read it here, but someone posted "30(ish) years ago Harrison Ford played the age appropriate President of the United States. 30(ish) years later he is again playing the age appropriate President of the United States."

At 1:16 in the Brave New World trailer, what am I looking at? Is that Eternals crap?
