I stopped counting their confusing "phases".

Until Phase 3 it was easy. Each phase closed with an Avengers movie:

  • Phase 1: The Avengers;
  • Phase 2: Age of Ultron;
  • Phase 3: Endgame;

(even though technically Ant-Man and Spiderman: Far from Home are the actual endings to Phases 2 and 3).

From Phase 4 onwards separating between each Phase has become difficult. Especially if you count the many D+ shows. The narrative mess they made has been so confusing that, for me, it has all been one long continuous thing since Black Widow.

Since Endgame, I've only watched Spider-Man 2 and 3, and Ant-Man 4. I don't know the first thing about anything else since 2019.

I saw all the Phase 1-3 films, and liked around half of them. This for me is the Infinity Saga:

Iron Man
Thor
Captain America: The First Avenger
The Avengers
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Captain America: Civil War
Doctor Strange
Black Panther
Avengers: Infinity War
Avengers: Endgame

The other ones I'll never watch again.

Post Endgame, I think I've only seen Black Widow (which I consider a Phase 3 leftover), GotG 3, D&W (which I don't think of as MCU), and Spidey 2 & 3. None of which I'll ever watch again.

Maybe I'll watch Doomsday, but otherwise I think I'm mostly done with the MCU.

I didn't see the third one, but I saw Ant-Man Quadrophenia, which I'm sure was the fourth one. I mean it had a "Quad" in the title, like duh it sounded like a fourth movie.

Not a load of boring politics again.

Not another lecture, Master. At least not on the economics of politics.

Original Soundtrack available from RCA Victor.

Whatever political subtext they decide to put into the new X-Men movie won't be half as boring as these 5 comments. Perhaps you've lost your mojo.

I just watched it. Hadn't seen it before. I liked the TV sitcom stuff, and then reality occasionally bleeds in like a creepy Twin Peaks ep or like Alan Wake II. Hell it even has an evil doppelganger. It gets hammy when that other witch lady reveals it was her all along. But I bet the other MCU shows were never as bold as this one – I haven't seen any of the others yet.

You should Watch Loki Season 1 and 2, they're great and pretty Bold

The first few episodes of WV were decent, the finale was underwhelming. Then, the Multiverse of Shitness movie came in and shat all over Wanda's arc. Still, I miss when MCU shows could be at least as bold as this one.

Black Panther

The main story is pretty similar to Thor Ragnarok. Both featuring a previously unknown, and evil, heir to the throne seizing power and....

Well Hela wanted to conquer the Universe. Killmonger wants to liberate 2 billion black people.

There's a version of this film where Killmonger isn't actually the villain. He's certainly just about the most wronged character in the MCU.

Though I don't think Marvel would ever dream of making that.

The film somewhat hedges its bets by making Killmonger violent and irredeemable in almost every scene he's in.

Michael B. Jordan does a great job though

Wakanda is an interesting place. An extremely technologically advanced and prosperous modern African nation. Which sadly makes it about as make believe as Asgard.

The CGI isn't always believable. But once again the art direction is vibrant and colourful.

The action scenes in this film are sadly the weakest part. There's a rather nice car chase, i guess.

Chadwick Boseman makes for an excellent lead in a large ensemble cast. Who are all good. Though they're accents aren't always. Serkis' Afrikaner accent is hilarious though.

Ludwig Göranssons score, unusually for the MCU, has a real presence in the film.

The film has several flash backs to 1992 featuring T'Chaka and Zuri. Unusually for Marvel they used younger actors for these rather than de-aging Forest Whitaker.

Nah, BP 1 is much better than these two. It's a really good movie. Coogler at least knows how to write a good script.

DS 1 was totally lame and bland. Even the action scenes were boring, uninspired and insipid. And CM is bottom-tier MCU movie.

From this list I've found, it seems Captain America and the Winter Soldier is next up in release order, which is fine since that guy also shows up in Thunderbirds.

Avengers: Infinity War.

While Age Of Ultron had too many ideas cooking at once, this one is far more single minded. Its all about Thanos getting the stones, or not.

This helps keep a film with a huge cast somewhat focused.

The script doesn't waste time. Its narrative starts on Thor's ship and shifts to Earth by literally dropping the Hulk through Doctor Strange's 🪟.

Stark's suit now comes out of nowhere from his chest and has a limitless array of weapons and power. Remember Iron Man 30, where his suits kept falling apart and needed a car battery?

Vision and Wanda are the 2 most powerful beings on Earth, and get their asses handed to them by Thanos' children. Only to be saved out by Cap, Sam and Natasha, who are...in shape.

Even before the Blip this is a sparsely populated film. There's innocent for a minute or so in the New York scene. Scotland seems absolutely devoid of anyone save Wanda and Vision. There's no one in Knowere. Idris is the only one on Nivaldihir. Or Titan. The Avengers compound has zero superhero employees. This is something the Russo's do. The first two Avengers films had lots of crowdscenes.

Its strange how well Silvestri blends aspects of his previous two scores here.

Cap's beard does nothing for him.

Like in Civil War, the film forgets Wanda can mess with minds.

The film sorta shits on Ragnarok for a bit. Its happy end was pretty brief. Everyone but Thor dies. He suddenly does need a hammer, and Rocket gives him a new eye.

Pratt put on weight for this, for comic effect. I like the dedication. There's a LOT of Guardians Of The Galaxy in this film.

I come back to those Silvestri Avengers scores a lot, but it saddens me that my Intrada CD for the first one went bad on me. If only they'd release some FLACs of that one, which would compensate for the loss of my CD's playability.

Do you not make backups of your CD's?

I only just started doing that. That's when I found my CD is now faulty. It played just fine years ago. I saw that someone on FSM in 2023 said they contacted Intrada for a replacement copy of their own Avengers CD that suffered a similar fate, and they were provided with a replacement copy. But this CD has been listed as "temporarily out of stock" since the 2010s, so I'm not sure whether I'll have the same luck as that FSM poster.
