Dixon Hill 4,229
Does anyone know anything about this?http://www.itunesfestival.com/A relative more in touch with this sort of thing brought it to my attention. Only point of interest, and why I mention it here, is that Eric Whitacre will be featured, and he's appearing with Hans himself. Very curious to see what exactly they're going to do. Dixon Hill 4,229
No one cared when I posted this, but if anyone wants to see it, here it is. Haven't watched it yet so I don't know what Hans does.http://itunes.com/ericwhitacre
KK 3,202
Yeah I heard about it. Apparently Whitacre wrote a beautiful arrangement of Time (a cue I'm not fond of at all), and Zimmer was at the piano. I tried to find the recording but it was only available with the US iTunes. He said he might create a studio recording of it sometime and put in one of his future albums though...Just watched it.Meh, the arrangement of Time was alright. It was a lot more safe than I had hoped, fashioned more after the original than through Whitacre's personal language (though that's clearly present).I've got to ask though, Zimmer has performed Time on stage so many times now, I wonder if he ever gets bored of playing those same 4 chords again and again...Loved the Reznor arrangement though. Dixon Hill 4,229
Yeah I just watched it. Pleasant. Whitacre has been pretty silent on the compositional front for a while now. I'd like to see him come out with a large scale piece. Or move into scoring, beyond collaborations with Hans (unless he secretly had a hand in Interstellar)I don't like the brass version of the middle section of Lux Aurumque choralized, though. Prefer the original quasi-Palestrina stuff.I really like the stuff with that singer dude.He is an excellent conductor. That Bach chorale and subsequent counterpoint implosion was sublime.
