Now, there are three kinds of music on this Fantasia program. First, there's the kind that tells a definite story. Then, there's the kind that, while it has no specific plot, it does paint a series of more or less definite pictures. And then, there's a third kind. Music that exists simply for its own sake.

Definitely getting this for sure! Is the re-recording brand-new? Or has it already been released before?

The re-recording was conducted by Irwin Kostal in 1982 and has been released before.

Remains one of my favorite Disney films. I remember seeing it years ago, for the first time in years, in a theater re-release. There came a moment early in the Rite of Spring sequence when I glanced away from the screen for a moment (as we all tend to do). I realized it was the first time I'd taken my eyes from the screen since it started--about 45 minutes. I simply found it enthralling. Naturally, it has exceptional appeal for someone who has a passion for the pairing of orchestral music with cinematic visuals.

I'm hoping they got the master tapes for Fantasia and managed to do a much more listenable mix.

According to my research, the original master tapes are most likely too deteriorated for actual remastering and mixing.
