Isn’t this franchise going to be rebooted anyway after the Fox/Disney merger? Why even go forward with this installment?

It was probably in production while the merger deal was happening.

Anyone else even remember X3?

I think i'm one of the only people who liked X3. It was dumb as hell and not as good as X2 but let's not pretend that Singer's first X-Men film was any better. The score is beaut as well.

Said the guy who fawned over dumb films like Inception 🤣

I didn’t fawn over inception. I just said I’d prefer it to the Matrix

That's the internet for ya. If you say that a movie was "just okay", then one side will interpret that to mean that you loved it unconditionally, and the other mod will be outraged thinking you hated it.

Oh wait, you can't see my posts, huh. It's like I'm talking to myself.

I even stopped watching. Can't stand the Jennifer Lawrence era of X-Men movies.

The Last Stand is my favourite of the lot, the plot is a mess, but the themes and where they were trying to go with the story weren't exactly a waste, just executed poorly. I think it's akin to the Spider-Man 3 fiasco of too many plot strands fighting for attention - with X3, it's the Jean Grey and the Cure - both interesting concepts, but both coming off as feeling rushed and out of place.

I guess the writers thought the two went hand in hand, with the plight for a cure coming as a direct response to the growing threat that the Dark Phoenix was?

Maybe they should've devoted those ideas to two separate films...

You must be joking?

The first one was well cast, and the first half was really good, and then the end/statue of liberty stuff was kind of a big fart.  Even worse than Last Stand.

but again, I had forgotten origins wolferine.

That one might be my least favorite one of all!

That's why it's the best.

And The Last Stand is the worst so that's why you guys think it's the best.

Why does every film since Wolverine in the X-Men series feel like a bizarre musical chairs type game of time travel plot to Magneto plot, to Mystique plot, back to Jean? What the fuck is going on with this series?

And Logan was very dark and disturbing.

Its like James Mangold watched Chris Nolan's Batman films, had a chuckle and said to himself: "oh, that's cute."

It also has so many Shane parallels, they had to shoehorn a scene of Picard watching Shane on TV!

Dark Phoenix wrapped two months before the Disney/Fox buyout was announced.

Logan is what showed his true character really was especially from the comics.
