Tough one. Each have their merits. I was pretty swayed by Ba'ku Village first time I heard it and like "Prepare the Ship" and "Send your Ships" especially. Nemesis, in its expanded form, grabs but I'm voting for First Contact. Every time I hear that theme and overall I quite like it.

I love that entire scene. One of Goldsmith's finest sequences.

Although Insurrection doesn't have much that's interesting/new as far as the action sequences, the expansion of the four-note "quest" motif for "A New Sight" and "A Perfect Moment" are also wonderful Goldsmith creations that lift the entire score.

If we're talking about the same theme (that started in V with "A Busy Man"), then yes. I didn't think it was much of a postulation. The first four notes are Goldsmith's newer Trek motif, then he adds five notes that give it a broader sense of wonder.

I like reading the liner notes in the specialty label releases, always a nice story about the making of the film as well as the score inside
