The Paining: Season 5 Discussion Thread (SPOILERS!)

Recommended Posts

I'm having an MRI scan later this week. I was told that I'm allowed to bring a CD to listen to during the procedure. Which will take about half an hour.

Any suggestions?

I had considered the Jaws OST, but that might be a bit too energetic, considering i have to remain motionless during the procedure.

Superman: The Movie

Attack Of The Clones (OST)

Star Trek Insurrection (Complete Release)

Star Trek The Motion Picture (LLL)

Just a few examples....

I'd recommend some Badalamenti. His stuff borders on mood music sometimes. Something like The Straight Story or the first Twin Peaks soundtrack.

I had to get an MRI scan on my shoulder when I had an injury playing dodgeball. They just put on some local FM station that was playing like current rock hits or something. I just fell asleep and woke up when it was over. It was easy to not move my arm during the thing.

If you want a film score to stay calm, maybe Missouri Breaks or The River or The Terminal by Williams

Wasnt it incredibly noisy?

Yes, Steef, why the scan?

For the past few months ive been having slight issues which I first thought was because of a pinched nerve, but have slowly gotten worse.

I visited a neurologist who finds it prudent to do a scan.

Could be a simple problem, could be something more serious. Unknown at this time.

The most annoying thing when it comes to this MB is that typing has become laborous and at times painful. Also the number of spelling errors lately have increased as a result of this. Right now it kinda feels like typing with gloves on.

Nevertheless, i must discourage my direct competition, thinking they have found a weakness after all these years.

Even if my arms had been worn out to stomps would none of you ever hope to beat my postcount!

Cancer runs in my family on my mums side. Mostly with the women though.

We aren't in touch with the family of my fathers side, so no idea what the deal is there.

I hope your scan turned out OK?

They will scan my spine and brain. Finally positive evidence that i do have those!

What about The Accidental Tourist OST? I've always found it very soothing, as long as I'm in the mood to hear its two major themes a lot.

Hope all goes well.

I'd recommend two pieces by Vaughan-Williams: Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and The Lark Ascending. Might be a little too mellow, but that's what popped into my head.

Funny, Basic Instinct came to my mind early for this thread for some reason.

It's actually a nice emotionally detached score for these kinds of things. I don't get the people recommending Schindlers List-style tear jerkers!

Listen to something that doesn't make you want to snap your fingers, tap your foot, sing along, or direct the orchestra.

A Zimmer score?
I left out fidget and vomit.

That would be my recommendation as well :)

It's at such a critical moment that you'll realize you must accept and bow down to the one true God of film music! ;)

Plus it's a wonderfully serene work that might do a good job in keeping you calm.

I kinda of enjoyed that score while watching the film *shrug*

Still haven't listened on its own, though.

EDIT: I'm talking about TASM2.

How did you come to own the OST to Zimmer's The Amazing Spider-man 2?
