Whatever is happening with your life right now, I hope things turn out for the best.

But please keep posting as you can, I greatly appreciate your contributions to this forum and you are one of the members that make this place what it is.

The best of things to you

Sorry to hear about the situation Grey. I hope things work out for the best! You are one of the best members here, and it's been a pleasure getting to know you, discuss with you and occasionally spar with you, and I certainly hope your posting doesn't stop here. As I'm sure many others will agree, JWFan needs more posters like you.

Again, best of luck with whatever is happening mate, just make sure you don't forget about us! Who else will righteously defend Whitacre in your absence?!

All the best TGP and hopefully things turn out alright.

And hurry back. Things would be less interesting here if you didn't.

Grey, you're one of the reasons I log in here obsessively everyday, even when at work. I've learnt so much about what it means to be a composer, to have an individual voice, to trust your artistic instincts. We've had laughs, banter, misunderstandings and rarely ever arguments. This is gonna sound sappy as fuck, but mate, even though I've never met you, you're like my brother from another mother.

I hope you get to devote all the time you need to your wife and kids, and of course your work. When the time is right, you'll know how to communicate with us.

So you will let whatever is happening in your life interfere with your presence here?

That's sad, because I did have some hope for you. But I guess in the end your just another mediocre member that makes noise here for a year or two and then disappears.

Sad...

Anyway, i hope the affairs in your personal life will resolve themselves to your satisfaction and that you will oneday once again annoy the crap out of me with your ridiculous Zimmer love.

Bye!

TGP, I'm quite sure I'm not the only one here who really enjoys reading your posts. I hope all turns out well for you. All the best!

I second (the sentiments). Hope you won't become a hermit fixated on liturgic chants and esoteric synth noodlings with the word 'space' or 'cosmos' in the title! So we will miss you deeply here but on the other hand, a leave of absence always bears a chance of talking to real people instead of the spambots here... ;)

So take care, after all, i always wearily loved to click this 'last reply by' link

On a friend's Facebook page, the other day, I saw a post by someone whose profile picture was that Carl Sagan photograph with a spiral galaxy in the background. I thought Ah, she knows The Grey Pilgrim too! Took me a good few seconds to realise my error. At least, I supposed it was an error; maybe I'll check back to see if that person looks like Leonard Bernstein now...

So maybe this'll be a comically unnecessary post and I'll continue to haunt the forum.

Here's to that outcome! As Mr. Bennett said, For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbours, and laugh at them in our turn? :P

You're one of two members around here who seem to take a lot of flak from the majority for speaking their honest views, yet continue to soldier on without wavering. That deserves and demands a great deal of respect, and you've certainly earned it from me. Sometimes it can be tough to tell when you're being serious and when you're not—especially at first—and we both know I fell into that particular trap awhile back (much to my shame-faced chagrin)!

It was interesting to hear about your struggles to find your "voice" as a composer, and later gratifying to learn that you were getting closer to it. That's the most important thing; continuing that pursuit should be your primary objective. We, and this forum, should be an afterthought by comparison.

I can tell you this, though: I've been around this place for nearly 15 years, and during that time I've had to take an occasional hiatus myself, sometimes for the better part of a year or so. There was always room for me when I got back, though, and the great thing about these boards is that you can pick up right where you left off and somehow it winds up feeling like you were never really away at all. Steef calls it "false familiarity," but I really don't think it's all that false. I believe if I were to sit down across a table from a lot of the folks here, we would fall into easy company right away.

Do what you need to do, but come back around when you're done. We'll be waiting for you.

One (relatively) false alarm out of two. Family history on my father's side dictates that nothing even remotely resembling a cardiac issue be shrugged off without extreme scrutiny. But it'll take a bit longer to asses what's up with my mother-in-law's case.

I haven't even been a member here for two years yet. My postcount is shamefully not reflective of that, but I'm grateful for what it does show: that I was able to become part of this community.

Neither have I, but your postcount easily shames mine.

At any rate, I'm glad to be able to share my views with you as you have with us for so long.

May you find the solutions to your problems that you are having in life right now. We're still here, and when you return, you will be welcomed with open arms and plenty of GLOMPing.

The latest update is the only one I have to give. My father is ok, but mother-in-law remains under scrutiny and frankly each day seems to make things a bit less likely to wrap up so cleanly.

The world could burn around me and I'd still post.

If only I had Quintus' self-control when it comes to staying away.

Sarcasm accepted, no self control here, just preoccupied with real life shit. Which unlike you has actually greatly impacted my JWFan participation!

Self control?

Screwed up priorities you mean!

It was JWFan versus a hot brunette and the brunette won!
