The Force Awakens Disney Records OST

Not Mr. Big

Maybe it will be a good OST like The Phantom Menace.

:pat: One of the worst JW OSTs ever!

You know a OST is bad when the only track people remember is 'Duel of fates' Even then I don't personally like the track. But I don't listen to phantom menace so maybe I'm missing out on something :)

Well anyways, since the iTunes listing also has 23 tracks, to me this means:

1. The tracklist that was briefly up on Amazon was real, and they weren't supposed to put it up, so they were asked to take it down. Disney has sent the OST to Apple, and they were instructed to not list the track names or times until the 18th.

2. The tracklist was fake, and someone at Apple chose to list it as 23 tracks because he saw that tracklist, just so the entry wouldn't be blank like Amazon's.

FWIW, Ark Soundtrack Square still has the 23-track listing up for both the US and Japanese release of the CD.

It's no "The Tide Turns". That's for sure.

If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe there's something wrong with the universe!

I know it doesn't make sense. Instrumentation reads correct, but the feel is wrong. It's something I can't quite put into words.

I hate to be the King Mark here, but that bit about the producers essentially rejecting Williams' music in favor of trailer house music has gotten me really worried. Especially with the 30 minutes of music not in the film.

I never thought the studios would stoop that low but after hearing of the teaser 2 business and some of the atrocious music they've used for the TV spots, I'm willing to believe anything.

LOL. Why?

Trailers and TV commercials are a completely separate thing from the film itself. Who the hell cares about commercial music?

Erik Dercf doesn't seem pleased with the lack of a tracklist.

Really nothing to sample? (one star)

by erik dercf
Why is this even up if there is nothing to sample? Do they think people will buy it if Star Wars is written on it. This pre-order is not a great pre-order I do hope the album is good.

The only reason is if you have money now, but think you won't on the 18th. I guess.

Theoretically it could auto-download into your iTunes while you sleep, so it'll already be in your computer when you wake up? I dunno!

Oh.

It just seems kinda stupid to me. Pre-ordering makes sense when it's a physical copy of something that might sell out and you want to guarantee you get one on the day of release. It ain't like TFA score is going to break the iTunes servers or something.

Just a way for a company to have a constant revenue stream I guess

Oh, I just noticed this part of the press release I missed before

The limited edition first run of the physical soundtrack, featuring premium digipak foil packaging, will be released wherever music is sold on December 18.

A fucking digipak?

And later pressings will look different?

2 lame things!

No, a foil digipack

Google Play Store shows 23 tracks too but indicates the full time as well: 1 hour, 17 minutes and 8 seconds!! Longer than the 3 prequel CDs!

Nice find; I checked Google Play this morning but it wasn't there yet!

Cellar song aside, that is hugely promising. :)

Between length and track number, it looks like it will probably be a "complete" replication of the film's narrative, or so I hope. I am more willing to let missing big highlights slide when that is the case, if it is the case.

So I wonder if the tracks are just going to stay anonymous until the 18th, or if they'll put up the tracklist soon. I can't remember ever seeing sites put up tracks like that without titles.

Well. First I believed that Amazon France tracklist. Then I started thinking it was fake. Now, with all the digital pre-orders showing 23 tracks, I think it's real again. Luckily, the confusion will be cleared up in only a couple weeks.

That's much too long.

You're not by any chance dying of a terminal disease that's shortened your life and taken away your time for listening to good music? Otherwise what do you have that's more important to do than listen to full length albums?

I found this in the comments on Pope's post, referring to Williams' TFA score (https://www.facebook.com/conrad.pope/posts/10207402507493840?comment_id=10207402953264984&reply_comment_id=10207403075308035&comment_tracking=%7B%22tn%22%3A%22R9%22%7D):

It IS a fantastic score!!...no one will be disappointed!...

This comes from someone (Armen Ksajikian) who, based on their posting history, seems to work at the Sony Scoring Stage. So they're probably pretty reliable. Ksajikian was replying to these two posts:

Conrad I thought the same as you, but than I said to myself, it's better to have an awful trailer music and a fantastic new score than opposite

Excellent point. We are probably talking about the most scrutinized trailer music in the history of film...easy to lose sight of the fact that JW is still plying his craft for our benefit.

Great to see all these positive reviews. I believe we haven't yet seen a single negative review of the score.

Saved for later...

I suppose it is possible that for those working on the recording of the score, most of the modern film music is so low quality that Williams' stuff, even not at his best, sounds incredible to them and that's why we're getting all these positive reviews.
