Well there is a difference between Throne Room music and the sunset force theme. The latter is nice the first one almost corny.

Rey's theme beat that easily, the concert version is incredible, I do not care how it is in the film.

It was an instant classic in 1977. Star Wars was much bigger than even The Force Awakens could imagine.

There were like 5 or 6 movies that came out total in 1977. Maybe one or two channels on TV. And porn was difficult to get. Of course it was an instant classic.

It's clearly more than 5 or 6 movies, and despite L MULBs flippant remarks Star Wars was so huge, only E.T. was bigger.

Apparently Wojo didn't get Blume's sarcasm and took his post literally? How odd.

I was truly not aware that the Pirates theme (I can't recall it without YouTubing it) was part of the recent zeitgeist.

I always preferred the auxiliary theme that you hear in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie when you're introduced to Jack Sparrow for the first time. that has a rather nice melody. can't find the piece though.

EDIT: I found it but its the one from the World's End game, done by Mark Griskey interestingly:

You're talking about this theme I believe

If I'm not mistaken it's a Badelt theme (and curiously enough one of the Conrad Pope orchestrated cues).

I consider Gladiator to be Zimmer's best.

It is.

Haven't listened to it properly for some time, but back when it came out I played it solid for about a year, absolutely loved it.

I think it's one of those scores that tells you the story of the movie without picture. Very cohesive.

Nope.  And your need for a pretty musical story to be told through the music is childish!

Shut up and drink your hipster coffee, pseudo-musician!

Likewise, although Interstellar, The Thin Red Line and Frost/Nixon come close.

Gladiator is definitely up there. So is Frost/Nixon (really underrated gem, this one). But The Thin Red Line secures the top seat for me. Interstellar, while quite good, is a down a few notches.

How the hell did thus turn into a Hanz Zimmer thread?

Better to casually discuss another great composer than have certain folks spouting quasi-intellectual vitriol about Williams.

I could understand that, so lets talk about another great composer. Horner, Goldsmith, Waxman anyone?

I am surprised to find you squeamish. That is not your reputation.
