We don't do funny in a Chris Nolan thread! We only talk about obsession, dead wives. And delivering extensive exposition in awkwardly convoluted sentences

Anyone else considers The Dark Knight Rises as pure Republican propaganda, portraying movements like #OccupyWallStreet as terrorists, and the police as saviors of the city? Also, that movie was released on electoral year in the US.

For many reasons this is Nolan's weakest film.

Actually it's the complete opposite .

You're not the first liberal to completely miss the point.

Kinda like the knee-jerk reaction to DEATH WISH.

It is funny!

A rare and welcome commodity.

Coen Bros are incredibly inconsistent. NCFOM is brilliant but ASM is bad.

I love all their films to varying degrees. No Country For Old Men is my favorite. Hail, Caesar! probably my least favorite due to its vignette nature.

How TDKR is not right wing propaganda? It has been discussed since the movie came out. But if you have another point of view, please share it with us.

Those pretentious nihilistic Nolan movies may try to seem deep, but they really aren't. Are you comparing Bane to Occupy Wall Street? The real life movement was mostly peaceful, Bane wanted to kill people. It's real simple.

Of course the police are good (Except a few bad eggs, which have been around since the 1989 movie) in Batman. Should they be evil? What the hell??

I wouldn't say  republican propoganda because it wasn't  sanctioned by the gop but  that it has a conservative outlook.

National  review said the dark knight was one of the best conservative  films of all time.

I wasn't the first person to say something about the conservative tendencies of the movie. Plenty of well respected journalists did the same.

Liberal journalists didn't understand the DK films.

FILM COMMENT , of all places, did a special issh on the film and did get it.

Fyi the film is inspired by A TALE OF TWO CITIES by that rightwinger Charles Dickens.

I really don't care if you misinterpreted the film. I liked it, alot.

If you want to talk about a film that espouses right wing, conservative values...FOREST GUMP !

When I have pointed this out to film people, they think I'm imagining things!

But, it's blatant!!!#

Im not going to click those links but, looking at the headlines is depressing . Especially from SALON , a truly progressive publication that I admire!

This is what happens when political activists review art- they fuck up badly and embarrass themselves.

Anyway, back to the Batcave😁!

You're not imagining things. I thought that in 1994, and said as much, but no-one would listen. It's a quietly disgusting piece of work.

  • 2 weeks later...

Nolan would never do that, he is too fond of the theatrical experience to ever make something for TV. And WB wouldn't want to risk their partnership by just throwing onto HBO Max as if it was some sort of made-for-TV crap.

My local drive in movie theater has been open for weeks

They were doing a double feature of Jaws and Jurassic Park on one screen, and The Goonies and Back to The Future on the other

Yea, the local drive-ins have been pretty packed with people. And they're looking into turning mall parking lots into drive-ins on certain weekends too.

It's great. You're given a specific radio frequency to tune into, and the movie's audio just plays through your car speakers.

The only issue is darker scenes are sometimes hard to make out. And you have to get there early to get a good spot.

I’ve never seen a drive-in theater anywhere. You guys are living in the 70s!

There are about maybe 3 pre-existing ones around here, but they're very far apart. The closest one to me is pretty far up north. But I know they're looking into turning certain areas downtown into drive-ins for concert/movie weekends.

I thought the "end credit music" was Face To Face?

The end credits contain BOTH a score cue by Elfman and some of Face to Face.  Don't you have the OST album?

There's one outside of Richmond that I've been to a couple of times.  It's a neat experience.

Did Koray basically just say "something isn't in my bubble so therefore it doesn't exist"?

Drive In Movie theaters are everywhere.

Travel more!

I went to a drive-in, in West Virginia, once. I saw INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE.

It's been a long time, since I saw the film (or heard the OST).
