TheUlyssesian 2,103
Looking for some recommendation for some great Heroic and Badass themes. I include badass in the distinction because some of the most heroic sounding themes can often be villain themes. Beowulf Theme from Beowulf - Alan Silvestri (0:10) Imhotep Theme from The Mummy - Jerry Goldsmith (0:31) Kull Theme from Kull The Conqueror - Joel Goldsmith (0:54) Captain America Theme from Captain America: The First Avenger - Alan Silvestri (0:12) Amphytron Theme - The Legend Of Hercules (1:07) What would you recommend? leeallen01 1,668
I'd say the obvious Fellowship Theme, especially when Shore sticks some choir in there in 'For Frodo.' Also I'd say Giacchino's done some great stuff of that description, like his Star Trek Main Theme, John Carter Main Theme, In-Gen Theme from Jurassic World etc. James Newton Howard's Unbreakable Main Theme is wonderful, as is his King Kong. 'Flow Like Water' from Airbender is perfection. Horner's Amazing Spider-Man I adore. And Elfman's too. Silvestri's Mummy Returns Main Theme is classic Silvestri brilliance. Hell, there's so much. Unlucky Bastard 7,765
Any time the presidential theme appears in full spectacle in ID4. Main Title from Air Force One. "Nuggets and Bullets" from US Marshals. Basil's RoboCop.

Well it seems that you like Silvestri, so check out Predator and Judge Dredd if you're not already familiar with them.

Most definitely these two. And the last two minutes or so of the credits from ID4. That shit'll blow out your speakers and you'll be happy about it. Old Hansy has given us some very badass/heroic tunes I reckon. Gladiator, a few of the various themes from the Batman films. Inception has a lot of slick "doing badass stuff" music. The Kraken. And that moment when Jack and Davy Jones are fighting on the mast from At World's End is absurdly badass, but I'm not sure it's a theme. Jerry's material for Shinzon and the Scimitar is badass in a nasty, somewhat sexual way. The Force Awakens offers some really good stuff in this category too, and I don't think it's just because it's a new score that it stands out. The Resistance/Poe stuff really rocks hard, the little fanfare around 1:04 in I Can Fly Anything is so fun. Oh, and this may be the embodiment of badass/heroic. Yeah it's an awesome track, I absolutely love the the little gear change the strings provide about 30 secs in and then the percussion a few seconds later beefs it up another notch. publicist 4,484
Goldsmith all the way (though Silvestri's DREDD is also high on this list):
Quintus 5,391
The B theme from the Superman March is and always will be the greatest and most badass heroic motif ever written. Nothing else in music says "these are awesome displays of superhuman power" as assuredly and as succinctly as it does.

Loert 2,207
Cutthroat Island...Cuthroat Island...Cuthroat Island... Main Theme from around 2:05 From 3:03 From 4:50 to the end is exceptionally badass! Also the battle at the end of HTTYD is made up of a sequence of heroic renditions of most of the movie themes: For example at 1:36 and especially the 'Flying Theme' at 4:31. I also second Independence Day: And finally, Tai Lung's theme from Kung Fu Panda is badass in more ways than one:
Omen II 1,088
***WARNING*** The following link contains a 1980's synclavier-based earworm from Alan Silvestri. I cannot be held responsible for any badass acts of heroism you may commit after listening to this.

Pieter Boelen 633
Some tremendously good choices above! But is it just me or are some of the most glaringly obvious ones being missed out? Indiana Jones' Raiders March, anyone....? Plus the "Island" theme from Jurassic park: And Jerry Goldsmith's King Solomon's Mines: Plus The Mummy's heroic theme:
