Tom Hardy is a really great actor but was his role in The Revenant anything special?

Well, Rocky is a lock to win anyway.

Mark Rylance was terrific in Bridge of Spies

It's shit like that misinforms the public.

But I'm sure social media is singing praise of it and the brilliance of its apparent "social commentary".

A lot of friends are betting on Sly. But I seriously hope its Rylance (maybe because that's the horse I bet on) :P

Wow. Wasn't expecting Rylance to win for BOS. Nice to see Steven's standing ovation in the aisle, and a nice nod to him by Rylance. Great win and speech.

Holy crap Rylance won over Stallone!!!!!!

Nice of him to go hug Spielberg

Stallone was good, but Rylance was just a much stronger performance imo.

And Spielberg did just make his career. So it was indeed sweet of him.

Yeah he completely disappeared into his role for The Revenant.

Rylance is 56 years old!   Did Spielberg really "make his career"?

Yes, but Rylance never hit the big leagues till now. Only after BoS did he become a more recognized name. And its probably going to get him much bigger roles from here.

Louis is a funny guy.  He should absolutely host.

Doesn't seem like a particularly cool crowd this year.  Or they're just not showing more than a couple cool people.  I think I spied Danny Elfman earlier.

Did the Oscars die when Nicholson stopped showing up in the front row with sunglasses on?

I didn't expect Chris Rock to be the best host ever, but I thought he'd take the controversy in hand, diffuse it a bit, and turn everyone's attention back to the movies. He started off that way. He hasn't kept up his stride. And now it's starting to get just plain awkward. I'm not just talking about the whole diversity thing. When the presenters start upstaging the host, thing's aren't going well.

Meh. Seemed like a lame ripoff of Ellen's little "pizza sale", which was admittedly a little funny at the time. But not so much now.

But a lot more energy here than NPH's surprisingly limp performance.

Never forget James Franco and Anne Hathaway. The worst in history.

Gotta give you that one . . . Rock hasn't quite sunk that low yet.

Here we go. Kleenexes ready.

Wow sweet cover of Blackbird by Dave Grohl!

Someone always gets snubbed by these In Memorium tributes... who will it be this year?

Already saw Rickman and Loggia

Slocombe made it too

And Horner!  And someone applauded!

Melissa Mathison and Bowie made it

I'd forgotten about Wes Craven. Didn't know about Jerry Weintraub. Or Alex Rocco. Shoot.

Love that they showed a clip of Horner composing during his early years. Beautiful.

I had a feeling Nimoy would be last. Tears.
