#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,402 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Sigh....why cant we have this stuff in Holland!

Jay 44,379 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 In 2009 Fellowship: Live to Projection was this unheard of, new idea for a niche audience Now every blockbuster is doing it!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,402 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Fuck Texas! Come to Amsterdam!

Loert 3,079 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Soon there won't be any films left to project!
artguy360 2,154 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Aw man this would be such a great score to hear live to film.

FBC Director 10,390 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Something Hollywood hasn't considered - dull and uninteresting scores can't be resold or repackaged as potential concert experiences. crumbs and Matt C 2
Incanus 5,883 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Excellent news! This live to projection trend is really growing by leaps and bounds. Something as music filled as HPPS is perfect for a live concert setting. 6 hours ago, Stefancos said: Sigh....why cant we have this stuff in Holland! Ditto for Finland.

artguy360 2,154 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I've heard the HP1 score is notoriously difficult to play. I hope the orchestra is ready for the challenge of playing well and staying in sync with the film.
bollemanneke 4,191 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 Well, you never know, maybe HP5 and 6 might sound a little more detailed in concert, but honestly, I couldn't be bothered to pay for it... not now at least. As for HP1 being difficult, HP2 and 3are just as difficult, I think. If only they'd do it in London, I could probably go. Come to think of it, they can't not do Harry Potter in the UK! Some questions: - What do you think would happen to film version edits? For instane, 'The Gobletof Fire' has no trumpets in the film version. - How on earth will they tackle all the microedits in JW's scores? Do they have to rewrite the sheet music? - WHat about tracked/unused music?
Not Mr. Big 4,893 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Will we get to hear the extended version of "The Goblet March" in film?
bollemanneke 4,191 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 Goblet March? Hogwarts March do you mean? Unlikely.
Not Mr. Big 4,893 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Just now, bollemanneke said: Goblet March? Hogwarts March do you mean? Unlikely. Damn. I largely prefer it to the string adagio that plays in the scene. Perhaps somebody should make an edit...
bollemanneke 4,191 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 But the Hogwarts March is a concert arrangement, I don't think it would fit the scene well, not with Cedric's dad being tearful.
Maurizio 6,561 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 The good side effect is that expanded release of the scores might be around the corner as well.
BloodBoal 7,545 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 That doesn't mean a damn thing. Many scores got a Live To Projection concert without getting an expanded release in the months that followed!

SzPeti42 49 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Oh, this is really interesting. I really loved Indy’s first adventure live from his 2010 concert in Fort Worth, the only time I’ve been to the US, so I would give almost anything to have these kinds of concerts here in Eastern Europe. We have an orchestra who over the years basically became our film music orchestra, and they are popular, almost always sold out (even rehearsals), and enthusiastic about John Williams, so I guess it’s something. I’ve seen them 3 or 4 times already, they do interesting things (like the 1812 Overture with an extra military brass ensemble), but they usually do the basic John Williams themes, Star Wars, Imperial March, HP, JP, ET, and so on (If somebody is in the area this April, there will be a fully John Williams themed concert by them here in Budapest. This will be the first time that they will play Catch Me If You Can, Hook and Memoirs of a Geisha). If they follow this path, maybe in a few years we can enjoy these kinds of concerts without leaving the continent. Let’s hope

bollemanneke 4,191 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 Bloodboal, please don't destroy that tiny glimmer of hope. A complete Azkaban version (bootlegged or not) is the only thing that keeps me going these days.
BloodBoal 7,545 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Don't worry: I'm sure it'll happen, most likely in less than 5 years from now. I'm just saying the fact the Live To Projection is happening has no relation to a possible release of the complete HP scores.
Jay 44,379 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Just now, BloodBoal said: the Live To Projection is happening has no relation to a possible release of the complete HP scores. I agree with this. Warners is clearly not interested in doing expanded releases themselves, nor licensing it out to the specialty labels. We're more likely to finally get that elusive sessions leak than official expanded releases soon, I think. But I think official ones will happen eventually, some day!
bollemanneke 4,191 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 But wouldn't you say it's at least a sign that WB finally realised this music has potential?
Jay 44,379 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Nah, just a sign they like to make money They'll make much more money from these concerts than they would from expanded score releases
bollemanneke 4,191 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 Fingers crossed for a Europe tour then.
Jay 44,379 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Yea, let's hope this is a success and they go worldwide!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,402 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I'd watch this over Home Alone any day!
Jay 44,379 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 The Home Alone concert was really fun; A lot of it was due to the fact that watching a (good) comedy with an audience is always a fun time, the laughter being so infectious. Also, I totally love the score and it was admirably performed, which was great. Harry Potter, I love the score too, and also like the film. But the audience might be filled with more children than say the LOTR or STID concerts I've been to. Hopefully they don't get restless and annoying!

#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,402 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 A real pity. There's good stuff unreleased from the third score.
bollemanneke 4,191 Posted February 18, 2016 Author Posted February 18, 2016 I thought that quote was more recent. Oh well, there's certainly a great deal of great material missing. A Winter's Spell is my favourite unreleased cue.
Jay 44,379 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 I was wrong; It was said in December of 2013 http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=100515
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 11,402 Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Was that the last word on it from him? The legal paperwork for these kind of things can really drag out the process, so who knows?
