No Time To Die (James Bond #25)

I liked that Spectre had humour in it and a non-depressing ending.

But it definitely suffered from not knowing what it wants to be.

Is it an upbeat and fun James Bond movie? Or a depressing "modern movie syndrome" type affair?

It tries both and is neither.

A View to a Kill is a terrible film, but I have nothing but love for it.

Hee-hee. I feel the same way about THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. It's total tosh, but I love to watch it. Then again, and being me, I bloody-well would!

 Nick-nack! Tabasco!

SPECTRE is a great ride. No more, no less.

Oh Christ, A View To A Kill.

Moore should've got out after either FYEO or Octopussy. James Bond being played by a man of 57 is a very, very bad idea.

Connery could have probably pulled it of.

In Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, he's the young and inexperienced Bond. In Skyfall, he's suddenly an old agent struggling to stay relevant to the system. I feel like we missed a few Bond movies in between to show Bond in his prime, much like how there was no film in between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises to show Batman in his.

Tbh out of Nolan's films I've only seen Insomnia and Inception so I don't really have an opinion, but I welcome any fresh ideas.

Zimmer could redeem himself after giving us the worst Mission: Impossible score of the series.  In his defense, that's probably more to do with John Woo's direction than anything else.

You must be joking!

I agree with him. Mission Impossible II is the only score in the series I return to for fun. "Bare Island" and "Injection" are awesome guilty pleasures.

You mean the best Mission Impossible film and score? I agree!

You like Zimmer's MI score more than Kraemer's?

Mission: Impossible scores, ranked

1. Rogue Nation (Kraemer)

2. Mission: Impossible (Elfman)

3. Ghost Protocol (Giacchino)

4. MI:3 (Giacchino)

5. MI:2 (Zimmer)

(only the top 3 are actually good)

Once again... "I agree with Disco Stu"!

... actually, Elfman is #1 in my book.

Yeah, 1 and 2 are fairly interchangeable.

It was so disappointing what a dud Giacchino's MI:3 score was, especially considering what a hot streak he was on in that mid-00s period.  But he redeemed himself with the much more fun Ghost Protocol score.

I don't think its that good.  He took the basic concepts and reworked them for Eraser, anyway

Thoughts?

Could mean a Zimmer 007 score which would be interesting to say the least.

So.... modern movie syndrome overkill then? Bring on the darkness and oppressive doom and gloom.

Because that is what James Bond was always about. Oh wait.... NO IT WASN'T!

My father is a pretty huge James Bond fan, but he basically doesn't like any of the Daniel Craig movies.

They aren't "real James Bond", he says. I can't say he isn't right, because he kind-of has a point.

Obviously, both of us would appreciate the fun of the real deal.

Skyfall and Spectre both had it in parts. Now let's see them taking a dare and take it all the way!!!

Doing the opposite just means moving backwards again to do what they already did with Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

It worked relatively well once, but didn't work the second time.

No need for another.

Took me about three viewings to actually understand what was going on in QoS. Still not 100% sure to be honest
