Stick to star Wars, JWFaners!

Good one.

At least the Bond movies moved on, and aren't constantly trying to copy and remake Moonraker from 40 years ago.

Disney CEO Bob Iger Is Not Opposed To Buying The ‘James Bond’ Franchise

Disney CEO Bob Iger is not opposed to buying the rights to the James Bond franchise.

Bob Iger took over as the CEO of The Walt Disney Company from Michael Eisner in 2005. During Bob Iger’s tenure, Disney famously acquired Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Entertainment, Lucasfilm and 21st Century Fox, giving the company unprecedented power in the film industry given the amount of established IP’s they now own.

Time Magazine named Bob Iger as the Businessperson of the Year. In his profile with Time, Bob Iger was asked to put himself in a scenario in which he would purchase another film franchise, given the options of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and James Bond. Bob Iger responded with the following:

“We’re not looking to buy anything right now. But I’ve always been a huge James Bond fan.”

Disney and Bob Iger claim to not be looking to purchase any new IP’s at the moment, given that they are already busy with the likes of Marvel, Star Wars and other properties under the Fox banner. But given their growing monopoly in the industry, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if somehow, James Bond joins the Disney family.

As things stand right now, don’t expect Disney and Bob Iger to purchase the rights to James Bond anytime soon. After all, Universal Pictures will distribute Eon Productions’ upcoming No Time To Die, which is expected to be Daniel Craig’s final outing as James Bond.

I already can imagine Disney making efforts to "introduce the world of James Bond to a new generation of younger viewers", with cartoons on which Bond teams up with Spider-Man, Han Solo, Buzz Lightyear and Mickey Mouse to save the world from the evil alliance of Thanos, Darth Vader and Blofeld...

Please, make it happen! The outcry and despair of the fans will be hilarious!

A song of this Eilish girl once came up on a Spotify playlist I was listening to, and it wasn't that bad. Haven't heard all her opus, but that song in particular was fine.

Still, the point I've been saying all over this week remains: NTTD wants to modernize Bond, and music will play a huge part on it.

"Modernize" is just a cover name for indoctrinating 007 into the Hollywood world of woke bullshit. Which will create just as much backlash as Star Wars did. And I'll look forward to it.

Also, employing Hans Zimmer to record another retread of the stuff he's done for 25 years, is almost the polar opposite of modernization.

I don't know and I don't care about this woke bullshit, but as for Zimmer, what I thought is that he is the most popular film composer for the younger demographic they are trying to reach with this movie. That's the point of hiring him, bringing a trendy composer to attract younger people, rather than Arnold or an indie composer like Romer.

It's the same reason not only on why he was brought to Amazing Spider-Man 2, but also why he brought so many famous people to work with him on that movie.

I'm not saying it will be good. We all know the utter dogshit that TASM's score is, although I guess it's the score that abortion of a movie deserved.

Also I know about Eilish, but I have never taken the time to listen to her.

Up until recently, I only knew about her from memes."bad guy" is quite a banger.

Nah, the little girls who like her music will probably just stream her theme song endlessly on Spotify or YouTube, and will not want to buy a ticket for this movie.

That's why I said "a skull crushing monster hit blockbuster song bonanza". I specifically meant a hit blockbuster song.

Bond film watchers are older, outside of her core demographic. But the song will be a universal platinum mega hit.

You sound delusional. Top paid Hollywood execs aren’t using music to brainwash kids and bump up their box office numbers. Film scores are almost always the last thing they care about, and are typically meddled with as a “last straw” to try and fix something that’s been broken since pre-production.

Who said anything abut brainwashing kids? You are really extrapolating what I said.

What I've meant is this: the way I see the situation, Zimmer is the most well known and well liked composer for younger people, so they brought him to try to attract a younger crowd to a movie they weren't previously that interested. Simple as that.

And it's not like just by bringing Zimmer a crowd of teens will magically appear on the theaters. It's all part of an effort, that also includes, for instance, Phoebe Waller Bridge doing rewrites on the script, to make the franchise more relevant for a younger demographic. People who grew up with Connery and Moore won't live forever.

And that's just how I see it, but I don't know. Maybe the producers liked the Dunkirk score and wanted their movie to sound like this.

Zimmer is definitely not just a young gen composer. He sells across most generations outside of the film score nerd crowd. It's just a smart business decision. And let's be real, the film was probably outside of Romer's scope, so they hired a reliable Hollywood pro to get the job done. Hardly has anything to do with bringing the kids in.

Also, what I've heard of Eilish, I actually rather liked. Talented fella. Looking forward to hearing what she comes up with.

Exactly, Zimmer is popular not only with the film score nerds but also with people that don't really care about it. He will bring more "hype" to the movie than Arnold or an unknown like Romer, a hype that NTTD really needs.

Also, how Zimmer is not popular with younger crowds? He even performed at Coachella, lol. He should come to the next Rock in Rio, if he did, I would certainly go all the way to that crappy city to watch him.

Well, of course he's popular with younger crowds. But he's been "popular with younger crowds" since the 90s...he's just popular.

I have gone to seen films because JW is the composer.

Quite right, too! I've seen films just because Williams, or Goldsmith, or Horner was composing the score. Most of these films turned out to be surprisingly good.

But Eilish is not really cheesy.  Cheesy works when it is fun.  Eilish's computer crafted dark quirkiness is not really fun.

To be fair, though, I rather like "Ocean Eyes."  Shows she (and her brother) are capable of crafting something a bit more sweeping.

So, there is some hope, I guess.

There's no reason to just assume Zimmer won't, especially given the collaborator he is.

I'll have to give her stuff another try - she's a good singer; I think I remember her style just not quite working for me back then, but I said that about another band I got into recently.

*has a look* ah yes - most of her track names look like a 10 year old sent them by text.

A teen vegan advocate whose one album to date begins with the sound of her slurping saliva from her Invisalign braces and deals with themes of drug addiction, climate change, mental health and suicide.

I'm suddenly very nostalgic for the likes of Shirley Bassey.
