Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig were all fairly well known actors before they became Bond.

It is pretty crazy to think that not only were Moore and Brosnan both already famous from hit TV shows, they were already famous from hit TV shows in which they played suave spies.

Bond wasn’t really known for thinking outside the box!

And Cavill has already played The Man from UNCLE!

Cavill is a non-starter. Brosnan and Moore were famous but had not been top billed in multiple 100 million dollar movies.

I kinda think they absolutely have to go with a black guy or the backlash would be monumental. It won't be Idris. But I think atleast not actively considering a black Bond would be a PR disaster.

Also think about it, what could be the possible upside for going with another white man? Where could the series go from there? Critics will say been there, done that, what is this franchise doing?

I said the same thing about Star Wars sequel - they made a consequential change - a female Jedi hero. Without that, there would be no reason to make the sequels.

Bond will for better or worse have to come into today's woke culture. There is no getting around that. Welcome to the real world folks.

Sometimes I ask myself if people realize the ones who are constantly reducing actors and films down to ethnicity, color and sex, and evaluate them based on that, are the actual racists and sexists.

People demanding a black Bond because of his blackness are out of this world blind.

Jesus...

Bond movies shouldn't be THIS big. I mean, this is almost as long as Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and Endgame. It's longer than The Dark Knight Rises, An Unexpected Journey and Cameron's Avatar.

Meanwhile, movies that SHOULD have been a little longer (cof cof TROS) are cut to the bones and filled with holes.

If you look on Cary Fukanaga's Instagram story currently, there's a video of him in the studio with Zimmer. With a high-pitched drone sound playing in the background, Zimmer says "I just know we can make more interesting things. I just know were can make more interesting things than the one that was in.".

There's something amusing about this. Funny yet exactly the kind of thing I'd expect.

gk, what would you say to the many people I've seen who want Idris Elba to play James Bond because he'd be an excellent James Bond?  Because that's a separate scenario from what you're mentioning, and I've seen plenty of people online respond to that sentiment with "James Bond is WHITE!"

I really would be excited at the prospect of James Norton.  Great actor and only relatively famous in his own country for shows like Grantchester, not famous famous.  Like Craig 15 years ago.

Yep. People across the world of differing ethnicities/races/sexualities/genders have been enjoying (and making box-office hits of) the Bond films for almost 60 years with a white dude in the lead role.

Plus if it goes to a black guy, it adds further fuel to that stupid 'James Bond is a codename' thing ... no it bloody isn't, it's his NAME. 007 is his number, THAT can be passed to another agent.

If it ain't broke, leave it the fuck alone.

Billie Ellish is more masculine than sam smith, less feminine, and a much trashier dresser than Sam Smith. I think she'll sing a better bond song than sam smith. 23 others did.

Song's here!

Lyrics:
I should have known
I'd leave alone
Just goes to show
That the blood that you bleed,
Is just a blood you own
We were a pair
But I saw you there
Too much to bear
You were my life but life is far away from fair
Was I stupid to love you
Was I reckless to help
Was it obvious to everyone else?
That I fallen for a light
you were never on my side
Fool me once,
Fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry,
There's just no time to die.
I let it burn
You're no longer my concern
Faces from my past return
Another lesson learned,
To learn.....
That I fallen for a light
you were never on my side
Fool me once,
Fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry,
There's just no time to die.
No time to die,
No time to die,
Fool me once,
Fool me twice
Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry,
There's just no time to die.

I like it. Nice and mellow. Better than Smith's song.

It's no "Skyfall" though. A better arrangement for the swells would probably have helped.

David Arnold left the series 10 years ago, but his influence on the title songs that followed is absolutely, 100% noticeable.

Sounds like everything after Casino Royale is based on the You Know My Name riff.

Nice of her to include the Pearl Harbor love theme, though.

Edit: wait, it's upwards. That's the Necromancer theme then.

It's better than Die Another Day. But not much else. Even Sam Smith's kick to the crotch falsetto is more bearable.

Do these young singers not know how to enunciate properly? Is it because it has more feelz when mumbled?

Sounds like Lana Del Rey. It's a good chart song, actually. Though it's not exactly the outré kind of melody or hook i would have expected with Zimmer on board. The one-semitone-higher-than-the-last riff isn't really much to brag about.

You're not far off ...

'The album's opening track, "!!!!!!!", is a short intro in which Eilish slurps saliva from her Invisalign aligners and announces that "this is the album," before she and her brother descend into laughter.'

First listen: Jesus H. Christ, that's boring. She sounds like they had to wake her up and force her to quicky record the vocals so she could go back to sleep.

Second listen: Maybe I was being a bit harsh. It's not SO bad.

Third (and so far final) listen: OK, I'll give this thing 3/10 but that's all I'm giving it. :sigh:

Very first impression: serviceable and fairly unremarkable. It'll probably improve as I listen more, but whoever wrote that melody (if not Eilish) was not having an inspired day.

I think Skyfall set a modern standard for Bond songs with a really strong melody. This is nowhere near.
