Yep.  When Craig is done and they find a new Bond, it should be someone in their early 30s, not someone's who's 45.

Anyone come to mind that could fit that role? Henry Cavill would be my choice.

Of the actors who routinely get brought up, Aiden Turner might not be bad.  His rise from TV star with Poldark to Bond is similar to Moore going from The Saint and Brosnan from Remington Steele.

The Man From UNCLE pretty much insured this will never happen.

That's...not bad.

I have no good suggestions myself

Tom Hardy would have been great 5 years ago when Craig had said Skyfall would be his last, but now he's 40 himself

We had a nice thread about replacements here:

A) Because you can't be U.N.C.L.E and BOND at the same time?

B) Because he demonstrated he isn't secret agent material and he should only be allowed to fly with a red cape?

C) Different option?

The film bombed.

That's not his point. The film bombed, so it shouldn't have any influence over whether Superman can play Bond.

What does that have to do with "UNCLE ensured Cavill will never play Bond"?

I think Man from Uncle was great and Cavil did a great job in that movie. He was also great in Mission Impossible: Fallout so i think he would make a great Bond.

That wasnt my point at all.

Cavill played a Bond-like spy in a film based on a 60's TV show that was created because of the Bond-mania at the time. That film bombed.

I'm sure he's not high on EON's list to be the next James Bond.

Licence To Kill - Bond seeks revenge after Felix Leiter is fed to a shark and left for dead and his new bride is murdered.

Goldeneye - the villain turns out to be a former colleague and friend of Bond's.

Tomorrow Never Dies - the villain's wife is a former lover of Bond's.

The World Is Not Enough - in addition to stopping the nuclear threat, Bond must rescue a kidnapped M.

Casino Royale - Bond is betrayed by the first woman he's ever properly fallen in love with.

Quantum Of Solace - in addition to foiling Dominic Greene, Bond pursues those responsible for Vesper's death in the search for revenge/answers.

Skyfall - as well as the film's final third being set at Bond's childhood home, his surrogate mother/son relationship with M plays a major part.

Spectre - the villain turns out to be Bond's brother-through-adoption, who seems to do what he does because their father loved Bond more.

Maybe, just maybe, what's needed in Bond 25 is a resting of the 'Bond has a personal stake in the story' thing.

The CGI parasurf was daft fun.  That's not what makes it terrible.  The script is just AWFUL, completely lacking any of the wit or fun of Goldeneye, TND, even TWINE in places. I actually think the fencing scene is worse than the CG stuff.

That DNA clinic was cringey.  So was the climax.  And the strange angles and zooms in the action sequences.

Yes!  The action scenes were all horribly staged.  The fencing sequence is terrible.

Casino Royale and Skyfall are the only two keepers from the last 8. The other 6 are disposable.

Personally, I'd reach for Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies before either of those.  The last 8 includes both of them.

DAD is the only one I'd never revisit of the last 8.

I revisited it this year after listening to the LLL soundtrack release a bunch.  This is the correct decision.

Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and Casino Royale are the good ones

The World Is Not Enough and Skyfall are the acceptable ones

Die Another Day, Quantum of Solace, and Spectre are the bad ones

I can go with this.

I like tiers instead of rankings too.  Been meaning to tier things more.
