No Time To Die (James Bond #25)

What was going on was they were wasting Mathieu Amalric, one of the finest character actors of this century, in one of the crappiest Bond villain roles of the series.

QOS plot in 25 words, or less:

Bond still pissed at being betrayed by Lynd>discovers secret organisation called Quantum>sets out to kill Greene, who had Vesper blackmailed>on the way, meets Russian bird also out for revenge>Bond and Russian crumpet discover plot by Quantum to control the water, in Bolivia>tasty bit of Russian stuff kills the man who killed her father, and Bond - in effect - kills Greene.

Sorted! :)

That's more than 25 words!

On Nolan ... as far as I know, he's not much of a collaborator. Likes doing things his way.

I foresee potential clashes with Wilson and Broccoli.

Nolan is a director who will demand final cut on every film he directs. The Bond films are producers films and don't give final cur rights to the directors they hire.

This is why Spielberg, Tarantino, Nolan etc have never directed a Bond film.

I don't know, I'd say Mendes got his way with Skyfall, at least in how it looks and feels. Haven't seen Spectre yet, so not sure if it carried over there.

Thing is, Mendes isn't a writer so it's probably easier to get away with that sort of stuff. I can't imagine Nolan directing someone else's script. He has carte blanche with WB though so who knows if he'd want to venture out.

I think the look and feel of Spectre contributed to Daniel Craig occasionally looking as though he'd died during filming and his corpse had been propped up in front of the camera. It certainly has been a while since Casino Royale and depending on the scene, he occasionally looked as though he was pushing 50 in those earlier ones. But it's kinda like going from Moore in Live and Let Die to View to a Kill. It's like how the TNG cast aged like shit vs. the original series cast.

Spielberg apparently lobbied to direct one back in the 70s, but was told that Broccoli and Saltzman didn't hire outside of the cadre of Bond directors they already had.

George Lucas told him 'I've got an idea that I think's better than James Bond' ... and tah-dah, Raiders Of The Lost Ark.

THANK YOU, GEORGE LUCAS!

He was right. I generally like James Bond, but if I had to choose, it is Indy all the way. :D

Bond has far more good films than Indy!

For obvious reasons. It has more films. ;)

They should have made an equal amount of Indiana Jones ones.

No reason not to; there is a nearly infinite amount of potential with that story concept.

Apparently not!

I've got a whole shelf of Indiana Jones books proving my point.

Though admittedly, they aren't all equally good, still I wouldn't have objected if pretty much every single one had been made into a movie.

Especially "Labyrinth of Horus", which definitely hits a sweet spot (but apparently has never been released in English. :eh: )

Not sure if there's an "official" James Bond thread here, but Chris Cornell (singer of 'You Know My Name' from Casino Royale) has passed away http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/chris-cornell-dead-soundgarden-audioslave-aged-52-a7742046.html

I didn't know he was in a band until today (most other people probably didn't either until the obituaries hit). But I love his Bond song.

I don't know if you're joking but I think you'd find more people know him for the band, Soundgarden, than anything else.  It's the only reason he's known at all....

To be fair to jerry, I had never heard of Soundgarden, or Audioslave, or even Chris Cornell, until I sat down to watch CASINO ROYALE, for the first time.

It's a bit like saying "Oh, I love Peter Gabriel", without ever having clue #1 that he was in a band.

Go easy on all us Cornell virgins, Stu.

Steef, I don't care if you're fucking Muhammed "I'm 'ard" Bruce Lee,   you are in thin fucking ice, my pedigree chum, and I shall be underneath it, when it breaks.

Lol he was a rock star, mate. He's headlined several bands and had a solo career. It's why he was even able to do a Bond song.
