Loert 3,107 Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 Tonight I dreamt that I was somewhere in South America exploring an Egyptian tomb filled with traps, underneath a car park. But I think I had a weirder dream yesterday, when my Dad bought 40 pets, each pet being a different kind of animal (there was a cat and dog but also a wasp etc...). Then we went abseiling off the top of One Canada Square.

Glóin the Dark 1,846 Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I don't remember the last dream I had, but I can still vividly remember the first dream that made enough of an impression that I was still thinking about it long after I woke. I was three or four years old, and dreamt that I was going to catch a train. Presumably I was with parents or others adults at the beginning, but, upon arrival at the station, I realised that I was on my own. I walked up the steps to the platform to discover that the station was in a different configuration from how I remembered it. The distance from the near platform to the far one was magnified many times (to perhaps a hundred yards or more) and the space in between, which should have accommodated two railway lines, was now home to a large lake. The far "platform" was actually a grassy bank, with a single railway line running along a sidehill cut that had been dug into it. I anxiously wondered how I would be able to get on the train when it arrived, given the body of water in between. Then there appeared a slightly older girl, someone I knew from the neighbourhood where I lived, and without hesitation she removed her shoes and socks, rolled up her trouser legs, and waded into the lake to get to the railway. I heard the sound of a train in the distance and wondered whether the girl was going to be able to make it across the lake quickly enough, but she seemed to be making pretty good time. Suddenly, I was filled with an overwhelming sense of dread. The train came into view, hurtling along the wobbly line on the opposite bank, and showing no indication of slowing down. As it passed directly in front of me, still going at full speed, the train began to tip over, off the railway line and towards the lake, and the sound of hundreds of screaming passengers filled the air.
Naïve Old Fart 12,881 Posted July 6, 2016 Author Posted July 6, 2016 Last night, I dreamt that I was watching "Barry Lyndon", at my local flea-pit, but the film was being projected in 2.35:1, and I stood up and shouted this out...and nobody cared.

Ahh man, that's so cool (for a dream). I can hardly ever remember my dreams, but I got way into lucid dreaming a couple years ago. For those who don't know, lucid dreaming is where you are aware that you're dreaming while in the dream, and because you are aware you can often control parts of your dream. I had a dream journal and everything. But I haven't remembered a dream in a long time
mrbellamy 8,062 Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 I can typically remember them pretty well. Had a few recurring ones in my childhood. One of the oddest ones I've had was that I dreamt I was going to a CSO concert, and the ushers lead me downstairs, off to a hallway and into a very plain little room. In the center of the room was a table with a pile of white paper bags and crayons, and on the other side of the room was another door that lead back out into the hallway. Everybody was filing into the room and grabbing a white paper bag and a crayon, then getting into a line which wrapped around to the far door. This was because in front of the door sat John Mayer who was signing autographs, and behind him Bill Clinton who was not. I grabbed my bag and crayon and took the line to John Mayer. He sat at a card table and was facing down the entire time. He signed my bag and shook my hand without looking up or saying hello. Douchebag. Then I moved on to Clinton, who had no table but just sat in a tiny little preschool chair with his legs crossed, smiling. I said hello but he just kept smiling...eventually I awkwardly said "Well, erm, good luck to your wife?" (2008 primaries) and he looked up and said "Oh she's not really my wife!" He started laughing at me as I backed out of the room slowly...

Jill Sandwich 11,030 Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 I was at a department store buying The Empire Strikes Back Radio Drama CD set, then behind me at the counter, Daniel Day Lewis is dressed in a hoodie and threatens to mug me in an ASMR voice. I ask him to talk like Lincoln, so he does a Lincoln speech, and John Williams music appears while he's talking, and I manage a getaway.
Xander Harris 9,546 Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 It annoyed me when Spielberg took a jab at the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln show at Disneyland when he was promoting that movie. The Lincoln Audio-Animatronic is completely superior to Spielberg's Lincoln.
